Putting the car on a supercheapauto ramp

The supercheapauto ramps are rated for 750kg. Can we use these to get the 135i up on them?

135i is 1530kg?

If not what ramps can we use? (I want to change my oil)

My guess is they're rated 750kg per ramp. As you would use two the weight of the vehicle would be distributed between both ramps. Similarly the entire weight of the vehicle is not being supported by both ramps as the back wheels on the ground would still be supporting some of the vehicle's weight.

I have also been looking for some quality ramps. The Supercheap ramps you are referring to only have a width of 200mm which is too small for tyres. I confirmed on the Stanfred website that they are 750kg per ramp.

I just found the website of the car ramp brand that Supercheap stocks in their stores. http://stanfred.com.au/car_ramps.htm

I would go for the 4WD ramps as they are wider and give you more height clearance. I have noticed Supercheap also have these for sale.

In terms of width that depends on your tyre. The stock fronts are 215 but most people, including myself run a 225 when it comes time for replacement. The 4WD ramp track width is 270mm which is more than enough.

Yup.. http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...169032#details

Looks like 1000KG PER Ramp. I'll be getting two of these. Hope they fit in my 135i easily. Otherwise this is going to be a hassle :/

Actually is it really that unsafe to be over 15mm? The 750s seem to almost fit my needs (minus the 25mm)

Hey guys,

The ramps you have found will hit the front bumper as you drive up onto them unless you use some bricks/planks of wood to lift the car before the ramps. I use the following ramos I got from Autobarn. They have no clearance issues (when used with the supplied extensions), and fit the car find in terms of width and load carrying. I use these all the time on my 135I when I need to get under the car. They are a little more expensive, but suit a low car with low bumpers well.

Cheers,

Adrian

Do you guys have Rhino ramps? That is a popular brand name in the states.

Something like this:

Exactly what I need as my car is too low to get up the other type of ramps.

Can you let us know where you got them from?

Cheers.

Hi Guys,

Those ramps are great. I use them on my 135 as well as my race WRX which is very low. No problems with clearance. The only issue I have had is... don;t hit the brakes hard when coming off the ramps, as you can break the clips. I thought I saw a child run behind my car as I was reversing off and slammed on the brakes and snapped a pin, but I araldited it back togeather fine.

I got mine from Autobarn Dural, but I am sure most Autobarn stores would have them... ring up before to be sure. Cost.... not 100% sure but $130 rings a bell, but cannot remember.

You can get other ramps for low cars, but they do not get nearly as much height and are primarily designed to get the car high enough to get a jack under. The good thing about these ramps is you can get right under the car to do real work underneath the car without a jack. Also they stack togeather nicely for storage.

Cheers,

Adrian

I bought the same ones Adrian suggested from Autobarn Dural, was less than $200 from memory.

My car is on coil overs and thus very low and I don't have clearance issues.

BUT when I had splitters installed I DID HAVE CLEARANCE issues so be warned those of you with lowered cars and splitters!!!

I'm running 225's on the front and 255's on the rear, both fit on the ramps without much overhang.

My car is just over 100mm from the ground because my car is lowered and I have a carbon front lip. Do you think I would have enough clearance to get underneath and do some work with these ramps as they are only 200mm high.

Depends on lip design and how low, but I would guess they would be OK. The key thing is that they start lifting the nose of the car before the lip gets level with the steep part of the ramp. If you though you were going to hit, you could also add a plank of wood to add some more clearance.

Stuart above used them and found on a E90 that they can hit with lip and very low, but I think overhangs on 135 would be less also.

I'm trying to justify spending $600 + on race ramps from http://www.raceramps.com.au/

I was told they might strike I deal if I purchase more than 1 set... anyone keen or am I crazy? I bought a set of 4WD ramps from Supercheap but it seems more effort than it's worth to get them up on the ramps due to the steepness...

I just measured the lowest part of my front bumper and it's 115mm from the ground (before I put my fat arse in the drivers seat).

I normally get about 15mm clearance when going up the ramps.

Despite their low height there is plenty of room to get underneath the car for an oil change, removing the FMIC etc. I would not want to say try a down pipe installation on them though.

I have to bring them to the office for one of my staff to borrow, I'll snap some pics for you when I do.

Thanks, I would appreciate the pics. Looks like I need to return my Supercheap ones... they are more effort then they're worth!

The ramps will primarily be used for oil changes but I plan to attempt the FMIC install myself when I cross that bridge.

The width says 230mm and my fronts are 225mm so it should just fit. Do you think I would have issues if I upgraded to 235mm in the future?
