It was an hour of taping and five minutes with a can of Krylon... and five minutes of thinking "DON'T RUN!"

Maybe I'll cut it some orange cone teeth for its AX debut.

Nice... and it will be super ironic when you knock out one of its cone teeth when you plow straight into a cone (after a gratuitous 360 of course).

The rear bumper cover has been pretty permanently attached. The side in the pic fits very well. The other side isn't as good, but close enough considering what the car has been through. The front cover is a test fit with only a couple of clamps holding it in place. It will come back off before the motor goes in.

I got a little too motivated last night.... the motor and tranny are in the car. A new radiator is next.

Wait! You did a full day of autocross, then put a motor in your car? WTF. That's just wrong, Mike.

It only took 45 minutes. It is just sitting in the front crossember with a jack stand under the transmission. There's still quite a bit of work left. The radiator is in now.

The front drive axles are in and everything in the front end is torqued. Also went through he rear end with a torque wrench one more time. This thing is getting down to about 100 plastic clips, vacuum, vent and fuel line routing, electrical hookups, and a drive shaft before it's ready to fire up! Oh yeah, and a circlip to hold the shifter lever in place and to figure out why the turn signal don't work and some hose clamps and to put the motor mount nuts on and put in the transmission cross brace and....

A battery has been put in the car and the motor cranks. The shifter lock ring, MAF, power steering res and exhaust gasket set will be here tomorrow. Tomorrow night, the shifter, drive shaft, exhaust and power steering should be done. A new slave cylinder for the clutch and an O2 sensor will be here either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Things that will be left after the O2 sens and slave include a pass back through the suspension with a torque wrench, engine oil, trans oil, a final brake bleed and putting together a battery hold down. If all goes well on Saturday and I can get a trailer, I should have it at the John MacDonald AX on Sunday.

Now, all of that said, the car is for from finished. There will probably be another two to three weeks of work to get the car ready for the state's retitling inspection. Once it's legal on the road again and my checking account has a rest, then it will be back to stripping the interior back out and time to think about the cage. In between, the race seats and harnesses will go in with a harness bar.

The car is nearly together. It is running and drivable. It's really just coming down to trim type stuff that will need to be wrapped up before I can go to state inspection for retitling.

Took the car out for a good shakedown run tonight on a dealer tag. There were absolutely no issues. We even end up pushing it a little harder than planned and really gained some confidence in the motor and suspension build. It will be at the 6/28 AX.
