Wow.

I read that the oil condition sensor is called a OZS. Does this stand for "Oil Impedance Sensor"? (Impedance being the inverse of resistance)

Just a WAG, but it could measure the resistance of the oil. More metal gives a lower resistance reading. Could be a cheap way of sensing the oil condition.

Admitted, this is just a wild guess.
