Turbo help
Hey man, I have a 335 and I'm doing my turbos too. Did you have to drop your front subframe to get to your turbos? I've only started mine and I was hoping to avoid dropping the subframe. I know our cars are very similar but it's even tighter in there for you.

You aren't doing a single conversion with the subframe buttoned up, let's put it that way

I'm not doing the single turbo conversion....in replacing my stocks with RB's. I was asking if you could dismantle the turbos and remove them without removing the subframe. So when you took your two stock turbos out, did you drop it or take your time and do it in the tight quarters? I've pretty much removed all hoses, fan and radiator. I haven't unbolted the exhaust manifolds yet.....but when I do, will they come out or is it too tight?

I'm thinking that grabbing a 135i then upgrading the suspension and putting a 1M aero kit on it would still have been less than this project by a large margin so I don't get that either. Aside from that, this is an incredible almost shocking display of what the n54 can handle. Honestly it's amazing, and I'm actually thinking of selling my n55 msport e92 bc of stuff like this I keep seeing!!! Lol. Good luck man!!! |

Props for going big and bold.
I must say I am surprised by the lag...I have seen that same turbo on many 2.0 4 cylinder vehicles and they are able to achieve the same power band. Is this an intentional aspect of the tuning to protect the drivetrain? edit: noticed it was quite hot and also possibly not a load bearing dyno. maybe on the road it spools quicker? either way crazy peak #'s! |

There are different paths to nirvana
An alternative is to buy an ordinary used E82, make it look like an 1M, and add a supercharged BMW 4.8 L V8 engine to it for less money 620 whp (0.85 bar).

And thank you for explaining the single turbo setup. I think I am simply used to twin turbo setup's for daily drivers/occasional track days, thus optimizing an all around driving set up, in effort to eliminate lag, pick up some low end power, and provide as much torque as possible. For your purposes however, I can see how this would be ideal. Great work and I am glad you were able to achieve your goal! Always love seeing someones hard work and efforts pay off, and in your case, with tremendous dividends! Chris |
