Exhaust that brings out the V8

I've been searching the around the forum and can't seem to find an answer so I though I'll open a thread.

I'm looking for an exhaust that brings out the deep v8 growl on idle. Any idea which exhaust? Or is that not possible with the m3 because of it's smaller displacement? a 645i with exhaust sounds so much deeper than the m3 with exhaust. I only willing to get the rear section. Not looking at x pipe.

So far the closest I have came to is the Meisterschaft GT2. How much drone differences is it from the GT? GT has no drone and GT2 drones?

Appreciate any information guys.

i dont advise a meisterschaft gt2 on a daily driver, the sound of it is absolutely ridiuclously loud haha gt has a natural exhaust note that you will hear within the car but nothing bad at all

I more keen on Gintani and Meisterschaft GT2 (GT is a bit too tame - comments?) I don't drive the car daily. This is based on the video comparison
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=meisterschaft

Eisenmann and miltek (had it on my golf), are good exhaust but from the video its doesnt give off the v8 rumble. The kind of rumble i'm looking for are like those old school muscle car rumble. Like eleanor, isf or c63amg. don't get me wrong. I like the m3, but I would like it to have more of the v8 noise characteristic.

Even gintani and gt2 is not really what i was hoping for. maybe i need a straight pipe? or its the displacement? or i just got to hear the exhaust in real life?

what i'm looking for -

sorry for being a noob.

It's the engine that gives it this sound, not the muffler. you are never going to get that muscle car or c63 sound from this car. not with this high compression 4.0L engine with the variable valve timing which keeps it running optimally (or smoothly) at all rpms

I'd recommend the akra with an xpipe. I'm currently running the akra slip-on and gintani xpipe w/hfcs and it sounds pretty "ballsy" especially at start-up. Once underway there is no drone and with light throttle it's quiet. As you apply throttle it gets fairly loud and definitely V8 sounding as there is no rasp.

On my previous car I had:

eisenmann sport (slightly louder than stock)
eisenmann sport with Riss xpipe/hfcs (quite loud and raspy under full throttle)
gintani race (ungodly loud and oppressive drone - great for scaring the shit out of unsuspecting bystanders!)
gintani sport with gintani xpipe/hfcs(sounds awesome/race car like but still too much drone for my taste)
gintani sport (same as above but volume turned down a bit)
OEM with gintani xpipe/hfcs(quiet at cruise and very loud and raspy under full throttle)

The combo I have now is the best yet as it provides a moderately aggressive/sophisticated V8 sound and no drone. Definitely my overall favorite with the gintani sport and xpipe coming in second.

Thx,
BC

PS - sorry I missed your comment about not doing an xpipe. I'd say the gintani sport is the most aggressive setup with no xpipe I've had and there is some drone so it depends on how sensitive you are. Personally I'm fairly sensitive/intolerant of drone. Good luck with your decison!

^--- your current setup sounds similar to mine, but with the Fabspeed HFC's and X-pipe, I love the sound of it... Best of my previous 6 or 7 setups as well haha

Thank you. Very constructive comment.

Thanks Barryc too for sharing the exhaust experience.

I had the full Akra and found it sounded almost stock when off the throttle, and exotic when nailed

It didn't give the V8 rumble like my Miltek did.

The reason I decided to sell the Miltek is because it sounds just like a 70s muscle car.

The MGT has only the very slightest amount of drone at 3000rpm on the highway, in 6th (6MT cars). I can't speak for others as this is the only exhaust I've owned on this car. As for the sound, it's absolutely sick!!! My next choice would be the Eisenmann Race (though it does drone a lot more than the MGT) and then the Gintani Sport, just because it makes great power (though I'm not too crazy about the sound... more of an American V8 sound than F1-ish sound like the MGT).

This is of course just my 2 cents.

^--- It is nice sounding I can tell you that much.... Had it for almost a year, but it got too loud for me. If I still wanted a loud car though, this would be the choice, the tone was amazing from it.
