Squeaking Noises When Engine is Cold
My car is at about 168,000kms or 104,000 miles; it's a 2012 N55 BMW 135i with DCT.
I noticed higher pitched squeaking noises coming from the engine Bay Area when the engine is cold. I can make the squeaking noise louder with throttle. As soon as the engine warms up, the noise disappears. Anyone know what this could be before I bring my car into a shop? |

Normally I'd say PCV valve is bad, but that starts squeaking when it gets warm, and doesn't squeak when it's cold...

Rhythmic squeaking? Probably belt and tensioner. Just got mine replaced.

Could be anything on the belt drive really, I know my friends N55 developed a squeak that got eventually got worse, his compressor seized and ended up shredding his belt. On my N54 it had a slight squeak before a knocking sound and it ended up being that the alternator pully bearing went bad. Could be number of things, but I wouldn't ignore it
