Edwin, I think that's pretty impressive performance. 3 seconds behind an AWD GT-R is a bloody good effort. I think it shows the sort of power you are making!

Well done!

3rd run speeds
Edwin 225
Me 214
Alex 204

Goes to show how bad grip was at the start - seeing edwin traps at 188 or so at the drags and me low 183 or so and maybe around 170-175 for alex.

Not much gain over the 600m.

Was a rush keeping it flat for so long but grip was just so bad.

Really hope they can sort this out for next year.

Odd that my trap speed for the third run was slower than my second run even though I bettered my time by almost 1.5 seconds...

Also, Edwin said he let up off the throttle in his first run at 750m but still trapped a 224.1.

Watched a video on youtube saying first run was the best for most people as the gravel was not so bad - got worse as the day went on.

I limped in 4th gear - too much boost on the first run.

Thank Byron. I am pretty happy with the way the car is going. You coming next time?

I think if the starting area surface was like WSID we all would have trapped 10% higher.

I should have kept it going on my first run. I thought I was gonna get blown away by the heavy winds although the wind did die down a little later in the day.

It did seem to get worse as the day progressed.

I'd love to, but scratching the shit out of my car seems less than enticing. I was halfway there thought (in Canberra for work). Also I think a few more mods might be needed before I embarress myself :-)

This sort of event does however inspire me to get my project car up and running. It would be ideal for this and could do well. I just need time (ha ha). Perhaps the year after next as we are moving house early next year.

I'm assuming of course that race cars (I saw that evo) are allowed?

No Comment... - your slightly sainer advise made the car run fine....

Just tested 2step in action - wheel spin central but sounds brutal -need someone to film it. NLS logs look nearly as good as an automatic - holds boost through shifts.

Anyway turned off NLS for daily duties and promise not to use 2step till I get new tyres and we go to WSID))

Yeh there were a fair few race cars that came in on trailers. Maybe about 10.

BTW How is the project coming along?

I'll be more than happy to film the 2step.
We should attached my Gopro to your rear bumper above the exhaust next month at WSID to really see it in action.

You can use my 595 RSR's for WSID if you want.

FUD=4 would have logged kph on oil temp.

Great news. Well the project has had the above ground pool removed (sold) from on top of it so I can see it now :-). Debating whether to get it paint stripped now or before we move house. Not sure yet.

This whole 1000m racing is of great interest. Some time back I did some calcs and thinking about taking the car and doing salt lake racing. The ultimate goal of that would be to set a land speed record for an MG. Currently it sits a 240mph or similar for a teardrop thing that had MG stickers on it.

I worked out with some more grunt, gearing and smoothing in theory the car could do it. However salt has very low traction so you need add a lot of weight to get traction and rough calcs put that at least 800-1000kg of ballast. That too me spoilt the point of the thing.

For those that care (or don't) the car is a 1964 MGB roadster (gotta love the verts), original parts equates to body panels in the main. The power train is a twin turbo 4L Rover V8 (470kw, 850nm) in a car that weighs ~800kg wet.
So if I ever get time to finish the panelling (tubs etc) and put it back together it should go fairly hard).

One day. Needs 6 months of work to complete (about 20 years in Byron time).

I do have some photos. I'll post a few.

The original plan was to keep the panels original and gut the internals partly for rego (too hard now) and also panels get damaged and keeping stock shapes is easier to fix when I break it. In reality there is not a massive amount of work, it just requires some dedicated time.

Good to see your on the ball Adam. Sounds good. Should significantly reduce the 1000m times.
Can we drive back from the end of the strip on the grass?

+1 to this. I think a lot of the stone chips came from driving back from the end.
