125i M BUMPER TRIM PANEL

Hello,

I needed to replace my rear bumper,
my delaer ordered the Item:

51 12 7 892 599 M BUMPER TRIM PANEL with PDC.

The Item is mentioned in this link:

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E8...r_bumper_trim/

When the item arrived (I belive from germany),
I saw that the serial number is:

51 12 8 045 420

The bumper looks exactly the same.

Is it the same original item?
Is it possible in BMW to have 2 codes for the same original Item,
or its a different manufacturer?

Thanks a lot for help!

majory

Your bmwfans link does not work.

#51 12 7 892 599

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...=51&fg=17&hl=4

Your second part... p/n 51128045420 does not look to be a good number. ?

Thank u Dackelone for your response!

the "bmw fan" link:

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E8...r_bumper_trim/

the second number is familiar on the internet, ebay etc.
but I'm not sure its an original bmw part.

IF you bumper is just scratched... you migh try a "smart repair" instead of replacing it. I am sure parts are not cheap in Israel.

bumper

Hi,

Unfortunately the bumper's situation is not so good,
but the one who hit my car will pay (his insurance company...).

I only want to be sure that my dealer ordered me
a genuine part and not some alternative manufacturer...(Can it be?)

Yes, I know what you mean. Then just check the parts before they are painted or installed. All BMW parts come in BMW boxes. I know the oil filters now have hologram seals/sticker on the box, to show you the part is a real BMW part and not some cheap Chinese knock off part.

peguform

I saw the bumper and exterior it seems to be Ok,
But here the weird thing:

On the box I saw the S/N:

51 12 7 892 599

and on the bumper itself, I saw the number:

51 12 8 045 420 - stamped on the plastic.

In this link there is a bumper for sale - with the second code:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-E82-E88-M...-/251235536623

In the bottom of the page, you can see in the pics (the last one),
that it was manufactured by a company called: "peguform".

what do you think?

Sometimes official bmw part numbers will not match the part number on the item. The so called "casting numbers". This is normal.

Looks to me like this is a OE part. I know the bumpers are delivered to BMW in Leipzig already painted(as with other German car factories over here). Just in time.

It looks to me like this is a quality part. You just have to see for yourself when it gets to you and your body shop is finished with the repair.

Also... make sure the shop installs those "egg creates" under the bumper on the sides of it. Its a energy absorption pad - that also have a spot for teh air bag sensors. Its on each side of the bumper cover.

But it looks to me that you have nothing to worry about.

another question

Thanks a lot Dack!

I want to ask another question:

I need to replace even my carrier bumper, the internal part behind the trim panel.

My dealer said it's the same item in E88 and E87.

Is it reasonable? Its not really the same car body..

Anyway, I saw that there are 2 different codes for each car:

For E88 (my car): 51127192408

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E8...r_bumper_rear/

For E87: 51127058465

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E8...r_bumper_rear/

In the pics the items look the same...

thanks!

After visiting the garage again today, and after removing the bumper:

1. About the bumper trim panel, the code that was ordered for me is
the same code that written on my current original trim panel,
so both codes (599 and 420) are original - same product.

2. The carrier bumper for E87 and E88 are not the same.

Dack, Thank you very much for helping me!
