Sounds like a lot of work to end up with a mediocre result. I've seen nothing to indicate that they are better than what we have stock. Get a decent set of street performance pads, track pads for track use, and then see where you stand. If you are having fade, get a proper Brembo or Stoptech BBK.

The 2nd picture was without Msport suspension, just sagged floppy ol stock suspension. The lip is the one Andrey posted, fits pretty good, helps to have two hands to hold it up as you install.

I'm not sure what problem you are trying to solve over the stock 128 brakes.

thx guys

Could be just bling envy or something. new more aggressive pads would probably be enough for me

Another option 1er-forum.de guys are running 335i calipers & rotors. In interest of weight savings over 335i option converting to 330i sized rotors & correct pads will be okay too. The 330i option would open more choices for rotors overall, even if its less choice than 335i option.
I emailed Joey regarding the Grand Am 128i's rotors.

I've decided if i ever want to go BBK, i'll pick up 135i front rotors and calipers and go stoptech BBK in the rear. Solid way to save 2500 bucks. I don't understand how brakes can possibly so so ridiculously priced, i know they're important but jesus christ throw consumers a bone. Has to be the brand(meaning BMW) that makes everything so absurdly priced.

You would do that even though 135i calipers have the cracking piston and paint discoloration when raced?

Brands demand the pricing because of their race heritage & success.
There are cheaper options for our cars discussed in the BBK thread from the summer ( WP pro brakes, Rotora, and the new optiosn of ksport/d2, ArmaSpeed, xyz )

You get what you pay for with brakes. Many of those would be downgrades vs stock.

I never really plan on "tracking" per say, more of autox where brake fade isn't as apparent due to much shorter runs and much lower speeds, i think they would be fine for me. i'd use 135 rears too if it wasn't for the different rear knuckle.

Autox is extremely easy on brakes, nothing like tracking.

exactly, stock brakes are more then sufficient, but if i ever wanted to dive further into corners and be able to stop later i'd move to BBK/ 135i brakes.

Why do you want crap brakes in the front(where most of the braking happens) and good brakes in the rear?

Brakes don't do that, tires do. BBKs, bullshit 135i version, or otherwise makes no difference on stopping distance.

Ordered e46 m3 Transmission mounts. Liked what I read from wolfe's 128i & a 1m guy.
Will be doing them at the same time as the shifter link replacement.

Who has Dinnan Rear shock mounts? Did they work with coilovers, is this mod future proof?
Dinan doesnt sell them anymore, but AKG has their own version

Links to both? I upgraded the RSMs in my M3 and M5, wasn't aware of them for the 1er.

+1

Upgrade your stock pads to HP+, throw in some earplugs and be amazed.

I run stock rotors, HP+ pads with Hankook RS3s on a stock caliper (1-Piston) and it stops on a dime. It couldn't do that before on OEM pads.

BBK/135i brakes don't help decreasing braking distance...they provide more constant pressure and more area to decrease overheating. You still need to run aggressive pads if you want any results.

Show's my knowledge of brakes

Well anyway, i'm gonna run the stock pads until they're worn down, then i'm gonna run a little more aggressive pad, but nothing crazy because i have to live with it 90 percent of the time on the street. Nothing makes me angrier then noisy brakes, makes people think something is wrong and i get all sorts of weird look. Stock pads squeak all the time until i reseat them.

It's pretty easy for stopping upgrades:

Brake upgrades allow you to stop more times without increasing brake distance through heat soak or damaging components from excessive temps.

Tire upgrades provide an increase in grip which allows the car to slow down more quickly without overloading the tires and locking up the brakes.

Also... You're not going to do much better for street performance than stock and track pads don't work we'll on the street (noisy, don't work we'll at low temps, eat the finish off your wheels).

Totally awesome, I have a 2011 128i in space grey with coral red interior. I like the 128i so much that I just ordered a new 2013 128i in sapphire black metallic and coral interior. The 128 handles just like the old 2002. The 135 just seems to lack this characteristic for some odd reason.
