Updated coils memo

When picking up my car from the independent shop that installed the F10 clutch for me, they mentioned a BMW service memo from 2 weeks ago indicating an updated part number for N54 coils which applies to the 1M. Has anyone else heard of this?

The updated coil part number is 12138657273 which applies to all BMW cars with the N54 engine

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1202250

BMW switched from Bosch coils to Eldor coils which are much much better than the Bosch coils

To avoid knock offs I just got mine directly from the dealer unless there is a reputable online source like ecstuning.com that has them.

Here is a list of BMW cars it applies to:

Awesome, I am going to add this to my winter to-do list . . .

My dealer SA found nothing, but I think he only checked for service bulletins related to my car.

I am not sure if they are compatible, and really just want routine maintenance with the right parts.

The question would be, why would BMW not go with the Delphi coils ? However they skipped the delphi coils for Eldor coils even for the 1M and sport Rolls Royce cars.

My guess it has to do with the Spark Dwell calibrations which are different from between the S55 and the N54
