runcraps - sigh.

I've done 5,000 or so kms since the car has had replacement front runcraps.

I noticed on the way back from melbourne that the front drivers had lost alot of pressure... filled the tyre up and didnt think much of it. Same deal occured again today so I took it to a tyre place hoping that I could get the tyre repaired.

There was a collection of rubber crap in the tyre - and the gent told me that it was unrepairable and I was lucky the tyre didnt split.

I didnt want to replace my fronts until they actually needed it, but looks like I'll now need to order some through tire rack.

Question:
Is it safe to plod back and forth to work on the tyre for a week or so until the replacements come, or should i park the car and wait?

Hi mate. Did you buy these tyres new from a reputable retailer, or one of those discounters.

They could have been old stock.

to be clear, think it started through a slow puncture - had a component of a nail in the tyre. Then low pressure (but not enough for the TPMS ) and extended driving i.e melbounre -> Sydney resulted in the crap in the inside

Would like some advice,i guess surrounding the risk of running on the tyre for 100kms or so

Thanks - but for the cost of the runcraps, I'd rather buy some better tyres!
