Sold my 135is in March of last year when I picked up my M2. I do miss the 1er though.

Although not the original owner, the M2 is really the only car I'd trade the 135is for. I'm hoping I can upgrade when my daughter finishes college. I would love to give her the 135is and get an M2.

I still have my 135is, new in Aug 2013, currently sitting at just under 5000 miles. I still love to drive it, love the performance exhaust. One of these days I'll get around to adding the M suspension and maybe the Dinan tune. The only car I could see getting rid of it for is a 1M in VO, and low mile versions are getting few and far between and are priced accordingly. While I like the M2 overall look and straight line performance, electric steering is a deal breaker for me.

The 135 shares garage with 3 other cars, including an E89 Z4is, which also has EPS and will go back to the mother ship in a year and I'll start the search for a used E88....which I had prior to the Z and foolishly turned in.

From what I have seen in the used BMW market, convertibles tend to get a whole lot less use in many cases than coupes do. Of course, this is going to depend on the market. My 135is convertible was purchased new 15 months ago and it only had less than 6000 miles after two owners. I have only put another 2-3000 miles on the car since purchase. You should be able to find a little-used E88 without a whole lot of difficulty if you can spend a month or two looking.

How does the steering compare to your E82? The steering on the F cars (the 3er & 2er I drove) kinda turned me off.

Time for a 4 year reunion / check-in with some of the very first 135is owners. Tell us:
Do you still have the 135is?
If not, when did you sell it and what are you driving now?
Anything else of interest about the car.

There may not be much interest, but this is at least worth a try.
How about a weigh in from:

I never thought the hydraulic steering in the E82 gave much feedback to the driver, but I loved the weight of the steering and building steering effort based on what you asked from it in a corner. The EPS in the F87 makes the steering effort feel lighter than the E82 all the way around, but also builds effort in a corner better than some other electric steering racks. Feel is still lacking. I preferred the steering in the E82, but given that neither system is stellar, going to the M2's decently executed EPS really isn't much of a sacrifice.

The 135i steering is very heavy compared to my mustang which did have electric steering. Mustang steering was so light, it was so easy to overreact to conditions. Feedback was acceptable though.

That's from people who don't know how to drive or have more car than they are capable of driving. I haven't crashed but have gone a little further than I should have a few times in my life. Fortunately they wer recoverable events. Everyone thinks they're Mario Andretti at least once in their lives.

you might want to drive that car a little more. the seals might dry up and end up being a major headache. (just saying...)

Kept a couple of low mileage cars (3-4k miles per year - used at least a couple of times a month) for a long time. Car were always garaged. Never had seal issues in less than 10 years. After 15 years had to replace most seals and bushings.

Checking in here! I got my car on August 7, 2013. The car was apparently built on 11/2012.

I had my new airbag installed October 2016 BUT BMW gave me a hard time. My current mileage is close to 33k miles. Yes, I daily drive it. So far my car is stock...the only "mods" I have are a pair of BMWP CF plate frame (the limited edition ones w/ yellow letters), front and rear oem rubber floor mats, and continental all season non rft tires (installed at 25k miles). I got my tires from my brother who didn't want them and my rfts were bald.

I am looking for the rear and rear side window sunshades. Also planning on getting vanity plates but my idea was stolen so I'd what to do yet.

Oh yeah, I gave her a sweet sweet detail myself.
