While I didn't get a letter (yet), being how bad my local postal service is around here, I want to ask those of you that did get your letters. Are your VIN's showing up as having a recall on the BMWUSA recall website? Trying to check the reliability of the website.

Bmwusa website does not indicate a recall for my car even after getting a letter. It is not up to date as of today.

It is for 2010-2012 model vehicles so it might have just been during the production for the engines for those vehicles then in 2013 engines they changed suppliers or found the issue.

Got letter yesterday as well, odd thing tho I had been on the recall link 2-3hrs before mail came and thought I was in the clear as it showed no recalls.

Encouraging to finally see these letters trickling in. Did not receive anything here yet in Quebec, Canada for my May 2010 Production date 2011 135i.

Does the letter offer you to inspect and repair your N55, or just an extension to the base warranty?

took my car into the dealership today for AC issues. Showed them the recall letter so i can get that fix while my car was there. SA said they need to wait until they get the notification before they can do anything so i have to wait until i hear from them.
Is everyone else hearing the same thing or have you been able to get the recall performed regardless of if their system shows your car is part of the VANOS bolt recall?

Did you actually read the letter? I got mine today. It clearly says they don't have the parts for the recall and they will send another letter when enough parts are in. That's why it doesn't show up on the website. When they get the parts in and do the recall (for free) it will probably show up on the website.

Yes, the letter is just a heads up about the recall and that when they get the parts in they will send another one out alerting you that the parts are on hand.
I called today to reschedule my service that is due and just asked about the recall. They said the same thing as the letter. We'll send out another letter stating the parts are in and to call to set up your appointment. |

Just got my letter today. I have to get my service date thingy on my dash fixed so I'll just knock both out whenever they are ready to fix the recall.
