Getting back in the game

I sold my 135i .. and now I wish I kept it.. However now that I have sold it I am looking to pickup another one and have fun with it.

Here are some questions:
  • What can I do to improve / restore it? (wind back some of the wear and tear)
  • What should I be looking out for when getting a second hand one?

FYI i am looking for a white or space grey 135i, auto, black interior, silver trim. Coupe, not convertible. Preferably not modded before If you know someone hit me up. I have time to purchase, I get back to oz end of June. However i'll snap one up if I find a good one

Thanks for the help!

I don't think there is a whole lot to look for, that is specific to a 135i.. My list would be:
  • Listen for wastegate rattle (plenty of youtube videos on this)
  • Look for signs of modification
  • Ask about the HPFP and whether/how many times it has been replaced
  • Budget for a walnut blast, almost all N54's will have high enough mileage to need one
  • Search Search Search the forums for common issues, there is a million threads

There are a lot of things I haven't added here but I don't think you need me to write a list on "things to look for when buying a second hand car" .

Good luck, AW is an awesome colour!

The only thing I would add is the water pump and thermostat. They're just as failure prone as the HPFP.

Oh and if you're going steptronic then get the Alpina tranny flash. Highly recommended.

Thanks guys!

Yes I am getting steptronic.

Regarding the issues, my old one had virtually no issues but I read a lot already about the things that come up and PermanentCraving, you're on point. I agree with you on the walnut blast.

Does Peter from Advan still read the forums? He would have good input.

Thanks!

I am not sure how active he is but, in case you didn't know, he has the best price on walnut blasting; last I heard, he was charging $500.

OzJustin Good call.
