M135i mixes it with the hyper-cars.

3 door is certainly better. Annoying how Australia tends to get only the 5 door variants of hot hatches thesedays. The Audi S3 (now superceded) the Golf R and now the M135i are all 5 door only in this country.

I suspect the S3 and Golf R were due to VW wishing to make the 3 door Scirocco stand apart. Odd though how the Golf GTi is available in a 3 door however.

Maybe BMW are doing similar so they can create an 'articifial' opening for the 2 series later on?

You are probably right Andrew. Might be a marketing ploy to not dilute the coupe sales. I saw one in person on Monday. I don't mind the style at all however those doors sure look small and makes the car really look and feel like a small hatch which it is. To me, the 1 coupe looks like a bigger car even though its most likely the same overall size.

Had a thought with the lack of any prototypes running around is it possible the 2 series is being delayed with an eye to it being the first series to introduce CF in a serious way after the 'I' cars?

As for me it looks like a choice between a BMW Z4 28SDrive or a Lotus Elise S.

Same here... had a AW / red leather / blue brake blocks at Darra BMW...

they look good in person... unfortunately they wouldn't let you test drive it unless you were willing to put money down on the spot... surprised to see they had michelin Pilot sports in Runflat... anyone seen these locally?

One guy seemed to know about the car... the rest seemed to be more interested in selling the brand...

I had a look at that aw m135 a few weeks back as well. The stock tyres are pilot super sports, not runflats.
