Even in California people think this looks stupid (spent plenty of time there).

It's more of a teenager thing that people grow out of, eventually.

Well, I guess the teenager never left me. and I'm not actually a teen

Guys my wheels look flush right now, they poke about .5" nothing too extreme. They only poke that less cause my fenders are rolled and pulled. I don't rub cause I'm not low enough. And I doubt I'll even rub as much as my old setup when I go lower. The stretched tires help. And about the stretch, it's not even as extreme as most of you guys think. more photos soon.

John, how is the ride quality difference from 19 to 18? I'm seriously considering switching my wheels and have 3 options, one being a 19'' wheel? Just dont want to sacrifice ride quality to much.

It really depends on the weight of the wheel. With the new CCWs I can pick up the front with 1 arm. With the vmrs I needed help. I don't consider myself a weak guy (maybe ) but still. heavier/larger wheels make your car feel more planted and corners well. Lighter/smaller wheels on the other hand makes your car feel swifter but less planted and more wobbly. This is noticeable when going at higher speeds like on the freeway. That funny pogo/floaty feeling went away when I got the heavier 19s, but has come back since I got the 18s. However the new 18s don't feel as bad as the stock 18s since they are wider and I am lowered and everything.

Hope this helps!

I always thought your car was the sexiest 1er around because it stuck to one principle I think a BMW should always follow: it should be classy. All your modifications were simple and elegant.. Those VMR 701's were clean and hell, they even made the silly chrome trim look good.

But now I think you violated that principle of elegance... In my opinion these new wheels look kinda silly and belong on a Honda or an Infinity, not a BMW... but everyone has a different taste so I do respect that.. So enjoy your new wheels!

I'll leave you with one question though... if the problem was the rubbing situation, why not just go with 18" VMR 701s then ? Dammit!

I was referring more to like pot holes or uneven roads. Reason I ask is cause the ride on non rft 18 is way better then non rft 19 i had on my G37S.

I believe I still have the class there. I never let that part of my concept for this car slide. Which is why I opted for full polish and not just go ahead and black out everything on my car. I admit, I did think about that though I like how my car is JDM meets BMW/class. The concept is still there, just in mesh wheel form. And as of now, I still have the VMRs, my relationship with VMR is still great, I still love the wheels, but after a year, some changes had to be made. Its like changing shoes Maybe these new shoes are flashier and of a larger size, but that only means Im growing. Right?

Originally I did want the V701s in 18" but it never did happen. I remember I did state that fact in my progress thread somewhere. And if I really wanted a similar wheel, I could have went for some Advans RS, which btw do NOT have the correct offset, in fact the closest Advans RS that would fits this car is almost the same offset as these CCWs. I did my research. So you read my mind. This is not the end of me and VMRs though, rest assured If the wheels don't sell, I have something up my sleeves

well with 18's you can have more tires without rubbing I would go with 18s if you want comfort. non rft of course.

Just so everyone knows why I'm not rubbing....

Fenders rolled
Fenders pulled
4x4 status currently

I can technically fit wheels that are in the high 20s offset with no camber. with camber maybe mid 20s right now. future plans make me tingle.

how it currently sits.....

and will sit like this til next week cause of this...

all my weekend plans for the car gone down the drain...

Offsets are just numbers people, making it work is the goal. I'm not the type who will conform to the rest. NO csl reps, NO breytons on my baby. I'm the hipster rebel child in the family. (can't believe I called myself a hipster....) To me, modding means to be unique, everyone may have his or her own opinion and I respect that, thats why I AM NOT going to trash my threads and turn it into a childish flame war and have it ultimately locked.

I merely had the wheels mounted and there has already been a riot. I haven't even done much yet

Yeah thats the exact reason why I still dont have new wheels on my car yet. Not because I dont want to, but because Im trying to do something different and its backfiring. Exclusivity and trying to be unique is usually very expensive, very easy to get dicked around and there's tends to be a lot of waiting involved.

ouch bro, sorry bout the HPFP. I'm glad there are people pushing the offsets of whats actually possible. I remember w/ my last car, at first people thought +20 on a 10.5 wheel was crazy but then as people started to push the limit, the standard became 11 -5
