MK7 vs e88

Guy called me out with his MK7 gti. Said he had DP, FMIC, and stage 2 cobb tune. Im FBO with jb4/ bms backend flash map2. Im pretty sure i can win, but just wanna make sure. First low dollar run since everything is running right.

FFS. Something told me that as I got older and the cost of my cars went up, I'd stop seeing street racing "who will win" posts. Well I guess at least there are fewer of them.

Who the hell knows. You and he are the biggest factors. Go do it and find out. And please don't kill anyone else in the process.

No they aren't.
He's maybe 400# lighter than you.
It's a VW, not a Honda.

and you probably have 175 hp to the ground over him.

I own a mk7 GTI 6MT.
Their traction control, even disabled*, is slower than my 128i. Stock for stock.

*vw doesn't fully disable TC unless it has been coded out.

There is a local Golf R that runs 10's here, and is getting close to the 9's. Faster than a Veyron.

Kinda right. Press it once and you turn off DTC. Press and hold it, and you disable DTC AND DSC. No help after that. The car will let you do whatever the heck you want it to...

That's what I thought.

Except with the MK7 GTI, even after disabling both stages, VW still keeps about 15% traction which is very noticeable.

Garage List
Without coding, Traction Control on the Mk7 cannot be totally shut-off. My dad coded his to do it, and that thing is too much fun in the rain now!
On the track, the +60lbft torque of the GTI will smoke me on the straightaways, but lightness and rear wheel drive munches him in the corners.

Engine internals are completely stock. Just bolt ons. Probably cost him less than a loaded 135. Not even running slicks.
