Cool, thanks a lot for your help. In an earlier post, someone claimed that this feature does not work anymore as soon as you open the drivers door. Testing it is the only way to know it for sure, so thanks again.
Currently I live in the US, where it is apparently normal to start your car and leave to buy something or go back into your house until the car is heated. I will take the car back to Europe eventually, and there this feature is a big deal in relation to car theft, going into a gas-shop to pay while someone else jumps into your car and drives away. BMW will get a lot of flack from the insurance companies, and guess who will have to pay that bill with higher insurance premiums. Nevertheless, the CA feature in itself is really cool and handy, but why should the owners cary the down sides of it?

I always lock my car even if I'll only be gone a minute. It's good to know this quirk exists, but for me it's a non-issue.

When I went to the store to buy milk tonight I removed the FOB, restarted the car, got out, locked all the doors with my FOB, got my milk and got back in the car, WHEREUPON I went home.

Oh it's a big snowstorm tonight.

10 seconds is a small amount of time. The first time I tried it, I was too slow and it wouldn't restart.

I really, really like the CA. It's both useful and cool.

At a regular pace, you will will not get far enough in 10 seconds to not hear your car start up. Also, how's he getting in?

guess it would be easier for the carjacker to mug you and get the fob than trying to start the car in 10sec
