Loud Thumping Noise From Rear During Braking?
Just had a local shop install a mounted and balanced set of winter wheels/tires from Tirerack. They are 17" MSW 85s with 225/45/17 General Artic tires all around.
The shop just called and said they took it for a test drive and noticed loud thumping from the back while braking from highway speeds. Wanted to know if I had noticed this before, which I definitely did not. They are going to look into it. Just wondering if anyone here has ideas? These wheels/tires should fit fine on an M sport 135i with bmw performance suspension right? Wouldn't be a fitment issue I don't think... Maybe they banged one of the brakes while putting the wheels on or maybe one of the wheels/tires was damaged in shipping? |

Actually he thinks its pitting in the rear brakes because the car had been sitting so long (I recently bought it, but know it had been sitting for a while because it only had 1,500 miles put on it in the last year).

rotate the tires rear to front... IF the noise moves... its in your tires. Sounds to me like a bad tire belt.
