MadDad(TM) Axleback Exhaust GB "from" $649

So catbacks look like this:
$1198 or $1115(2nd level discount) No resonators
$1308 or $1217(2nd level discount) w/resonators(designed to look like the factory cats)

Updated 3/5 Pre-Order List:
1. adrean8j - with CF tips
2. M3R1 - SS tips
3. Tri - CF
4. Carl - SS tips
5.
6.
7.
8.
9. PRICE hits $649.95 for everyone.

=====================
Well folks it's time to start taking pre-orders. We announced this product back in August and you can view the buildup thread here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217326

We're taking pre-orders now that we should be shipping in late March(SS tips) / early April(Carbon Fiber tips)

Product Info:

This is a MadDad(TM) Whisper EuroSport Axleback. The Whisper series exhausts are designed to be slightly quiter than your typical exhaust, but even in axleback form there is plenty of sound character to uncork. The intermediate pipe to complete a catback will be offered in April as well..if not sooner, and prior to shipping catbacks anyone with a pre-order for an axleback will be able to option up to a catback once we announce pricing for that(TBD).

These exhausts are hand fabbed in the U.S. They are T304SS construction, hand TIG welded, premium hangers, patented German exhaust packing material imported from Germany(about 3x the cost of conventional glass wool used in most exhausts). If anything you might see some price creep in the future, but we know there isn't even much in the $750 range so we want to make a quick impact if we can. When you see the fit, craftsmanship, and hear the sound character in person there won't be any dissappointments here. One of the first bystanders to hear this exhaust in person thought it sounded like a Ferrari. This isn't just a louder exhaust than stock. It's a much better sounding. When you here a 135i drive by with a MadDad Whisper you'll be able to tell it sound very exotic/luxurious vs. tuner/loud. That is by design, not by accident.

If you have never heard of MadDad(TM) exhausts that's because up until now the only vehicles they have been available for are turbocharged Subarus. It's impossible to go to a Subaru WRX/STi forum and not find enthusiasts with MadDad(TM) Whisper catback exhausts. We're very excited about our many BMW 135i products we have on the table..this piece being our first.

Pre-Order Detail:

So why is the pricing "from" $649....Well, it depends on how many pre-orders we get. The everyday price with SS tips will normally be $749. Carbon Fiber Tips $779.....but for this pre-order prices start at $699 for either tip style. If we get 9 pre-orders(or more of course) we will let these go for $649. This is the only time you will ever see them offered for that price.

About the pre-order. When you use the link below to place your order the price shown will be $699. Our shopping cart system DOES NOT charge your credit card, it just securely gathers your billing info. You WILL NOT be charged a dime until we are shipping the exhausts. When we get to the 9th pre-order all previous orders placed at $699 will be converted to $649 before you are charged. If anyone cancels their order prior to shipping you will not be charged. If the number of pre-orders goes below 9 as a result of a canceled order, all orders will revert back to $699 so please be prepared to pay up to $699 but hope for 9 plus orders to help all of you save an extra $50. Shipping is extra, it's an oversized box so plan on about $38. I will keep a running log in this first post so folks can gauge where things are. We will ship orders in the order we receive them assuming no issues with your CC(make sure your billing address is correct for instance). I could ramble on so here is the pre-order link:

With all the snow we've had it's been tough getting some good quality audio clips but these should give you folks an idea. We're hoping to get out again this weekend and get some better clips done.

Axleback - Camera in car, drivers window rolled down 3/4" - http://www.daddysscp.com/1forum/maddad_135iab_hq.wmv

Longer Clip - sorry it was a windy day so lots of wind noise. Also had the camera on the passenger side rather than the dirvers side so you don't pick up the sound as much..but there are sections outside the car as well. Watch till the very end for a teaser of catback sound.

I have not looked at the convertible yet. Next time I'm out at my dealer I'll take a look at the support bar to see if looks like it will obstruct...or shoot me a picture from your car. I might be able to tell just by looking.

Love the exhaust. Can we get some clips from the rear of the car, either sound or video, of the car idling and revving?

Might take another week or so before we can get updated clips of just the axleback. We have made serveral samples and the axleback on my car right now is one that's not going to production...it's too quiet. The one that will make it to production is now on the car that we tested as a catback. I do have plans to get extended sound clips of that one but will probably be this weekend at best. The weather in MA. hasn't been very favorable.

However I do want to make it clear that the sound samples currently listed are all from the same sample unit..the one that was approved for production. It started off on my car for the past couple of months. This past weekend we took it off and installed it on another car and tested it in catback form(without resonstors), but not before grabbing one last clips(as used in the youtube video) and we then fitted the newer/quieter axleback(with the CF tips) on my car. It was just too quiet. Better sound character than stock but quiter than stock. If there is anyone out there that is totally catless and needs a very special axleback to quiet things down let me know. I have the perfect one-off axleback for you with carbon fiber tips

vividracing - thanks. They would look even better with the BMW carbon rear diffuser. Saving my pennies for that piece.

ichiban - Yes. We will be showing the mid-pipe later this month and it should be shipping in April. Price on the mid-pipe will be released by mid month. We just recently settled on how we want it configured. We didn't want it to be another "me too" mid-pipe. So we are hand fabbing small resonators that look like the factory catalytic conveters. They will be mounted right where the factory cats are located

604_e90325i - No need to cut out the resonator. The exhaust has a great sound character right now and we're making final adjustments to increase the volume slightly over what was in the "axleback" clips provided above. We're making a small baffle change that will let out just a hint more volume. Just plug and play the alxeback. In the youtube clip foward to exactly 1 minute in. As the car starts to take the corner it gives a good representation of the sound character of the axleback and in the production units it will be a hint louder but same character.

driftmotion - It's already on our radar because that's what I really want on my car . We're working on the rear valance/diffuser situation right now. I don't think you'll see anything before July though.

Positively. Go to the Youtube link and foward to about 1 min. in(but not past 1 min.). That's the best representation of the sound. Production units will be slightly louder due to a final baffle change to increase the volume just slightly.

Youtube link again:

Another earlier short clip, this time camera on the dirvers side of the car(early in the youtube clip it starts off with camera on the passenger side which doesn't pick up the sound as much due to the exhaust exiting on the drivers side): http://www.daddysscp.com/1forum/maddad_135iab_hq.wmv

So wait, I'm going to have to buy two exhausts from you? I really love this one, however I would love a quad even more...

OK, I'll still take this one...

I can't speak for maddad but the factory exhaust tips are much smaller in diameter. but you could always get your factory tips welded on the maddad exhaust by a good exhaust shop.

Yeah but i'm getting a carbon fiber rear diffuser, I'm afraid it might blend too much. And I have no other metal on my car, so it might not look right.
