Adding some premium package features to non-premium package car.

Specifically, I am interested in adding the puddle lights and the auto-folding mirrors. The car isn't yet available on realoem but could it be done easily and inexpensively?

I'm bummed you couldn't get the ambiance lighting without getting the Premium package... even my MINI has footwell lights. :-\

I agree --BMW really gets you with the premium package. So many options included that more often than not, people will be suckered into getting the whole package. And I'm no exception. I really only wanted the ambiance lighting and dimming mirrors, but apparently I get the whole she-bang now (for a price). Oh well, I'm still happy.

No. The cost of the mirrors alone would be more than the whole package.

It was hard to pass up the dimming mirrors and leather... But in the end I chose to do without. 3400 is a lot for the few things I wanted

Where did you find this out? Can you enlighten me with some parts prices?

I actually priced it out, the mirrors alone were around $950, but they would only work if you had a pre existing harness run into the doors. And if that harness was not there, the harness was an additional $450. SUX

On the brighter side (pun intended) you can easily add the footwell lights. I did it reasonably easily.

You can find the part number on the realoem site for the lights. If you look under the footwells, you'll see the open slots for them are already cut out.

The only hard part is wiring the connection and finding a 2-pin connector. I simply removed the LED from the ashtray and used that lead for both of the new lights. Works perfectly.

He wants the door handle LEDs, which also cost a small fortune... especially if it's comfort access.

Do you have any pic of the pin? Do you know where the original Pin suppose to connect to?
