Is anyone with these PTF tunes running the BMS intake? My BMS intake would cause issues on every tune OTS stage 2 or higher.

I had a similar issue when running the BMS intake. Ended up selling it last year and went with a drop in filter until recently.

With my tune dialed in I decided to give the injen intake a try as well as the pure turbos turbo inlet. So far car is running solid with zero issues.

Here is a picture of the intake. I did not install the injen snorkel as it only uses one of the intake inlets at the kidneys and that doesn't make sense to me. So I modified the stock intake snorkel to work with the intake and utilize both of the factory scoops.

My car ran absolutely horrible at WOT with the BMS intake. And that was on the stock tune, COBB OTS maps, and E-tunes. At WOT car would misfire and buck really bad. Normal driving it was fine though. It was really weird but I have heard of other people having a similar issue.

After reinstalling the stock intake, car ran perfect again.

So did the tune all get sorted? I got an e-tune from PTF a while back. (Over a year ago) They sent the first tune and I sent them logs back and they kept saying they were too busy with race season to finish my tunes. I get missfire and limp mode with anything over 50% throttle. So I'm still on the OTS map. I tried emailing them every couple months and gave up. Maybe I'll try again hopefully they can make me a happy customer.

You were getting misfires on unleaded or ethanol blend? Either way both tunes are sorted out. I would definitely contact them. Try emailing dzenno directly dzenno@protuningfreaks.com .

You should get back in touch with them. My first map did cause misfires but I am staying on them to get it right. Just got the new map and seems much better, we'll see with more driving. You might want to use the live chat feature on their website. Here is most recent log.

did you ever figure out why you were having issues with the BMS intake? I'm using that currently.

Is it because the tube isn't the same size as stock so the MAF is getting incorrect signals?

not sure. But I dont think so since there are boat loads of people running the intake without issue.

Car runs perfectly with the injen intake so it's possible there was something physically wrong with my bms intake, but if there was, it wasn't obvious. I looked it over multiple times and didn't see anything wrong with it. Maybe it just didn't jive with my car.

Just a heads up. Original post updated with E50 feedback and link to logs. Here is the link if you don't want to go back to the OP. http://datazap.me/u/houtan/ptf-stg2-...g=0&data=1-8-9

Car is running solid and holding the best boost/timing advance with zero or minimal timing corrections.

I just got Version 3 from Dzenno, he has it smooth and strong, just what I was looking for. I still can't believe I am pushing over 19 psi on stock DP and intake!

He would generally take about a week to respond to me. We went through a lot of revisions.

It's good to see how happy you are with you e-tune houtan!!this has me very excited!!

I've been running my car for a few months now on the Cobb OTS maps and have been wanting something more for a long time.I currently have my car back to stock for servicing purposes as it's still under warranty.

But mods are BMS dp+BMS intake+cpe cp+BMW PPK2+BMW performance exhaust+Cobb v3.
So currently my car is back to stock.i have the PPK2 installed so power should be around what a 135is in the U.S. should have (we here in South Africa never got the iS).i have dyno'd her stock before and achieved 231kw/445nm on the fly.

As soon as my car is ready I will start again from the beginning, and document it this time. A dyno on stock ecu map to start with, followed by a dyno with mods on and Cobb OTS maps, then finally a dyno with the protune.obviously this final step will take some time as I have not even contacted Dzenno yet.

I will try to keep this thread up to date as I go along.

How long did it take for the tune to fully adapt? A tank of gas? 200 miles?

How long did the whole process take to finalize the tune?let's say from the day you first emailed them till the day you received the final tune you were happy with?

Thanks in advance

I just went back and reviewed e-mails, just over two weeks from me send logs to having my final revision. 4 maps total. My experience was that you got very good service Tues-Thurs but Friday and Monday were tough as they are involved in racing.

sorry I have been slow to respond. original post updated with regards to the e50 tune as so far the misfire issue on ethanol comes back after about a day of driving. car runs perfect while grabbing the initial logs, but after about a day, misfires pop up every now and then. Not sure if the same issue exists for AT and MT cars, but for me with a DCT, the only consistent way to run E50 is with the JB4. Really hope it can be sorted out because boost and timing are slightly better with the ptf e-tune. I will continue to update as I try new maps.

Johnny135i.za=> looking forward to your results. as others have mentioned, it takes about 4 to 5 revisions to get a completely dialed in map. at minimum, expect one revision per week, but it's possible to get multiple revisions in a week as well. it just depends on your availability to get the logs and the workload at PTF. During race season, you most likely will not get a response Fri-Mon.

PA135i=> three 3rd gear pulls seemed to be sufficient on 91 octane and my cars performance stays consistent. For E50, something seems to change after a day or so and random misfires start to show up, so I do not have an answer for E50.
