Took my car out for a winter hibernation interim

The last time I drove my car was towards the end of October. The weather was nice today, sunny and 40 degrees and the roads were clear so I gave into temptation. I put 30 miles on the car and now its back in hibernation

Two pictures and a video of what a cold start sounds like after the engine has been off for 4 months.

Yes my engine was off for 4 months, I had it hooked up to a battery tender. Its going back on for the next 1.5 - 2 months.

I kept the car 3/4th full for the past 4 months, on my way back home I topped off the tank (5 gallons).

I wish but the mountains by me (Vail, CO) are way too steep for rwd, even with winter tires. I have a Subaru Outback on winter tires for winter and rough stuff.

I had my car out in FL before this year in CO, and I am bringing it to SoCal this summer

this is ridiculous. If you are going to store a car for that amount of time you should really take proper care of it. There are enough problems with our fuel pumps as it is, the last thing it would need is 4 month old gas. The least you could do is just run the engine and move it back and forth. I am very surprised you didn't have any trouble.

There is more to storing a car for 4 months than just the battery.

Nice car though, but it really is insane (especially to a SoCal person) having a car you only drive 5 months out of the year. Judging by the houses in the pics it doesn't seem like your doing too bad.

From the research I have done, it is worse to start the engine if all it will be doing is sitting idle. It will never reach operating temperature and as a result the engine will be more prone to condensation. It would be better to leave the engine off the entire time during storage. Nothing I could do about old gas when it snows 350+ inches a year here, I have another car for winter/daily.

My car will be two years old tomorrow with 11,500 miles. I daily drove it in Florida before I shipped it out to CO this past July. I am going to bring the car out to SoCal this summer to use as a DD there. Until then the car is hooked back up to the battery tender. Its still very much winter here and I will be out of town for a bit, when I get back, I have planned for May 1st, oil change, new summer tires, and alignment

You can see from my youtube video, the car started up ok, I have never had any fuel pump issues.

hmm. guess I am used to the classic cars then. I figured the wiggling back and forth could help lubricate/prevent things from just sagging in place.

To my understanding there are additives that you can add to your fuel that prevent gas from going bad. Dad has a boat, he learned the hard way. Had to pour out 50-60 gallons worth of gas and replace the fuel pump. Very depressing.

Ever since then he has added fuel preserves/additives (not too sure about the specifics I will ask him) but it has allowed it to fire up every time since then. May just want to check it out.
