1 series future

My lease is up on the 2011 135i in November, so I am shopping around now for a replacement or maybe even keep it.

Questions: With the new 2 series coming out soon, will production of the 1 series stop? If so when? Will we be getting the hatch versions of the 1 series from Europe?

I would like to stay with BMW hence my questions.

I ask also because I have search high and low and cannot come to a concrete answer.

Hope you guys can chime in.

the only answer i know out of those questions is: there is a 0% chance we are getting any hatchbacks!

F22 (new 2 series) start of production is November 2013. E82 (current 1 series) most likely already stopped production or about to, and you can't order one anymore because dealers are out of allocation for it.

F22 will be available only in 2-door coupe form.

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=841137

With that said, you won't be able to buy/lease new F22 till early 2014. However you can place an order and extend the lease on your current car for up to 2 months. Expect to pay premium for being one of the first people to get F22.

You can always find another 1 series on the lot and use "pull ahead" BMW program to end current lease earlier. Current 1 series lease is pretty bad though.

Was just at the dealer picking up some parts and was chatting with our CA and he said the 235 would be out in Spring.

Ya, you definitely don't want to be one of the first leasers, cause you will pay quite the premium. My lease ended right when the 135 came out in 2008, so I ordered one of the first ones, and I could have had a loaded 335i for about $10 less per month than my bare bones, no options 135. To give perspective as well, my new 135is, which is $12k more than my 2008 135, my payment is actually less.

It's all relative. Typically BMW will have good lease #s for new models, however dealers charge MSRP (as opposed to invoice +) so lease payment ends up being pretty bad.

Currently there are some people on F30 forums who are getting good/decent deals on new 4 series. But most of people are paying through the nose to be one of the first people to own 4 series.

I doubt that new 2 series will be in high demand (3 and 4 series have been more popular historically), so you might be able to negotiate good sale price.

I had to pass up on 1 series initially too, because I was able to lease loaded 328i sedan for MUCH lower monthly payment.

2 series grand coupe meets most of those requirements (giving up the hatch), but not sure how concrete of a plan that is and/or if it will come to the states.

Plus the 2 could have the "start/stop" feature, another negative for me.

This is why there's a 135is in my garage and not an F30 335 M Sport. I prefer the 135 steering and suspension feel, it's alot more like the E90 and E46.

2er will have Auto Start/Stop and I suspect a suspension similar to the F30 as well

Several conflicting ideas - e82 ending production next month, F22 starting november, F22 coming out in the spring. Who knows?! You get a different story from every dealer you ask.

Closest you'll get to this in the US from BMW is an X1 xdrive35

Does it at least come with the free stick? Sadly, if I were forced to get an SUV, though I know it barely qualifies, I might consider that since I think it drives somewhat similarly to a 135. Would have to get the M Sport package to get the same seats and steering wheel as us though.

Wonder if anyone has a Valencia Orange 1M and matching X1 to boot.

Indeed...so much of the newer BMWs doesn't appeal. Happy with our two e82s.

And THIS is exactly why you should hang on to your 1-series.

yep and I was told the E82 will continue as a 2014 model in the US----which is probably the MOST conflicting view of anybody here! haha

No conflicting info on when the F22 starts production. It begins in November. This is from a BMW production bulletin document.

No manual on the X1 in the US, I'm sure the take rate would be miserable here. While the 6spd auto from the E9x 335 is pretty solid, it's nowhere near as good as the ZF 8AT in the F30 now.

I test drove an X1 M-Sport for the ultimate drive event last May and thought it drove like a 1 series wagon might - the steering felt more connected than the F30 335 M-Sport I drove right after it.
