4 days onwards

4th day ends with new joy in my life---135i vert. Absolutely loving its drive, power, beauty.

Any tips on using voice recogntion--any what is possible with it?

Have used almost 1/2 tanks of petrol in last 4 days--about 115 KM DONE
SO BURNING THE FUEL WELL i guess

The heated seats are awsesome.

Voice recognition - just talk normally. Much quicker to set Navigation via voice, and dial from phone book than using the dial.

I gave up on the voice recognition after 1 week. No matter how clearly i spoke, or whatever accent i put on to try to get it to recognise what i said i still couldnt get it to call anyone. Normally after saying no to 4 times, and repeating who i wanted to call it would repeat the correct name and then do nothing.

I found it much easier just to call via the handset, or wait till i hit traffic lights and use the dials. I think not having idrive actually makes it quicker in using manual interface.

I find it quicker to use the idrive and screen.
Finding names is easy if you search by alphabet. Enter the letter the name starts with then scroll to name. Not too much fuss there.
I find the voice reconigtion is bad and takes longer, more trouble than its worth. Especially when it accidentally calls the wrong person like your mother in-law.

what i want to know is exactly what kind of music files are recognised by the system. I had read in the audio forums that Apple Lossless Codec (ALC) is readable, however after re-uploading about 50 triple cd albums i tested it on a loaner 325i and i found it to see the files but state that they are not in a "readable format"

A real PITA...... whilst the 126kbps that all my music was in was shit and needed to be re-uploaded, i really don't want to have to start again, or create another music file directory for the music in another codec.

I agree. I find it easier to push buttons and turn knobs. i-drive has lots of commands for different things but who has the time to remember them all? Plus I talk to much in my work so I value just shutting up and letting my 1er's engine do the talking.

Voice recognition... cant say much more than what has already been said in this post.. Mine works now and then but a real pain with the roof off and distortion.
