L/Km Gauge

Does anyone have this same problem as I?

When I come to a full stop, My L/Km Gauge goes up to anywhere between 13-20 then falls right down to 0. It doesn't make sense why it would do that since I'm not revving the engine and I'm just on the brake. Any input?

You're asking why the L/Km gauge is inaccurate while you're on the brakes?

Is it just me or is that an odd question?

I think this gauge is nearly useless except while cruising on a highway. I don't think you should really worry about it.

On my Opel, the L/km computer will read 0 if I am coasting in gear. If I am coasting in neutral it will show that I am consuming some fuel (4 /100 km). This is because the fuel injectors shut down when you are coasting in gear and you are basically getting free power. If you coast in neutral or you are sitting idle at a traffic light, the engine will be consuming fuel to stay running. I am not sure if this is what you are describing or not...

When standing your acutual L/km is infinite. Since the gauge cannot show that and since if it would stay out at it´s highest reading would have dumbo users running to the dealers complaining about incredibly high consumption. (I kid you not, for a while VW built car stereos without a left-right balance adjust because ppl would use it on turn it all to one side and then go to the dealers and complain about broken speakers. There´s no limit to himan stupidity)
So it´s programmed to go to zero when standing

Thats actually true, I've been driving a 1991 535i BMW, and it's L/km gauge goes all the way up to 30 when I'm idling (it actually goes just past and dissapears)

yes this consumption jauge is useless....

They should have left the engine temperature jauge which is more usefull, especially in winter when you want to know if you have reached the normal temperature before pushing hard the engine....

There are a yellow and a red light for high or very high engine temperature....but is there something for low or very low temperature? like a blue light or something?
