1 Year Service Questions

Hey guys/gals...

I'm due for my one year service/oil change sometime next week (my mileage countdown is <200 mi. Actual mileage since 08/15/08 is 16450!!! what can I say, I love the car!

I'm wondering for those of you who have already passed this milestone, what do you end up paying for this service appointment? I know with the free maintenance it's 'supposed' to be an easy drop the car off, pick it up...absolutely free But I can't help thinking that some hidden fees are applied, or something is checked/serviced that is not covered in the plan.

Help me out 1-drivers! What was your experience like on your 1-year service appointment?

Nick

The one year service and oil change on my wife's 328xi was absolutely free and included a free loaner. Your experience should be the same.

you have to be kidding? glass half empty?

it is free...period. BMW ULTIMATE SERVICE is provided for a total of 4 years or 50,000 miles...whichever occurs first. your services that are reqquired by the maintenance plan will cost you nothing.

Even though it's been only 6,000 miles since my one year service in April, my 128i is at the dealer's now as the countdown is at -200. Both services include a loaner and are absolutely free. I was also informed that this (mileage based) service will include replacing the wiper blades and cabin microfilter as well as the convertible top recall.

I don't mean to be pessimistic, this is my first BMW and I am fully aware of the free maintenance program. But how often is free shit really free? I'm glad to hear people aren't paying anything. Can't wait for my appointment next week.

Cheers!

yes...its free. loaners are up to individual dealers and are usually on a first come / first served basis. you have a shot at getting one if you purchased your car where you are trying to get it serviced.

free is good...

I took my car in for the first scheduled service at 17,000 miles with all mods on. No questions ask and they even replaced my wind shield wiper blades for free. Total bill is 0$.

Thumbs up Good to know

a lot of you have put more than 15000 miles on the car before the first year service/oil change.
Mine has 14700 miles and 6000 to go based on OBC display. The 1 year service is scheduled in Sept - at that time probably 16000 miles in total.

There are quite a few threads on oil change interval - I'll follow OBC display for my 128i coupe without additional oil change.

Just for fun, how do I collect oil sample and send out for a check? Any steps and procedure?

You drive your car way too safely.

My car was begging for it's 1st service @ 13,500 miles. And that's after 2 previous oil changes

Well, I dont know about that. The first 3000+ miles was in Europe in 14 days during my ED including 100+ mph on Autobahn and winding switchback Apls pass. At this side of the pond most mileage was on highway however.
