Why is freight so much more in Canada?

Does anyone know why freight is $2295 in Vancouver? It's a lot cheaper in the States, right?

MyBaby1,

I think the price you are quoting is for freight + PDI. PDI is $1295 and freight to Toronto is $700. Freight is probably higher for Vancouver as, I believe, all Canadian cars are shipped from Halifax.

Where are you buying from. It should be $2195.

Check Dealerships

I've seen freight from the Canadian standard of $1,995 to $2,195 from a few BC Dealers. Victoria was $1,995. Its a shell game that they were showing $195 doc. fee's and the higher Freight & PDI. Best I could do is to have them wipe the doc fees and the correct freight $1,995.

Yes, I did mean freight and PDI and it is $2195 in Vancouver. M2point5, should the freight in Vancouver be $1995 as well?

Freight & PDI Mystery

I have a quote from a Victoria BMW Dealer (do the math) and it shows $1,995 for both. They are charging a $395 doc fee though. The salesman there was very helpful and honest (Dave) if I have the time to wait I would have no concerns getting it off the island. A Saskatchewan dealer said the cost was $1,995 across Canada. If it was a variable expense shouldn't it be $1,495 ( or less) in Nova Scotia?
