Silly. Gas prices will never go much lower ever IMO. I am all for going green, but I don't care if it goes to $5 a gallon. If I get 15 city and 25 highway thats fine. I only drive 12k a year.

Waiting on 09 here. I had 2 dealers tell me that the 09's should start arriving around October. They said that they will probably start taking orders on them in late July, early August.
I know the M3 is getting a dual clutch DSG style gearbox in 09. I wonder if the 1 series and 3 series will have it as an option. |

I'm holding out hope for a few things in 09.
1. Sports package with the option of shadowline delete. 2. 1 or two more color options (a deep metallic red or lehmans blue would be awesome) 3. Perhaps 261's as 135i wheels (long shot) 4. Maybe a Beige 'ette like I saw on a 3 series today or the legit aluminum trim minus the cheesy graphics like they get everywhere else. |

true, diesel currently cost about 10% more than gas but the 123d gets about 45mpg(a little more than "a couple extra"). i drive >20k mi/yr, so the fuel savings would exceed $1k/yr, more than enough to offset the likely higher initial cost of the diesel model.

I was originally going to hold out until 2009 in hopes of doing a 123d through ED at $1,000 above ED invoice. I was hoping that would be somewhere in the mid 20K range (26-27K?).
But I've pretty much given up hope on the 123d coming in 2009. And just about every car company has announced some plans or another for much more efficient cars being released in the 2010-2012 time frame. There is the Volt, WhiteStar, the I-Miev Sport, Miles, the new Honda dedicated PHEV Hybrid, PHEV Prius, diesel-hybrid Smart, diesel and diesel-hybrid VW/Audi products, twin-charged VW's, diesel Hondas, an electric Lotus mini-SUV, Subaru R1e electric, the list goes on and on. With an electric car, I will personally be saving much more than just the approx $1,000/year I would save with a 123d over a 135i. I would be saving probably close to $3,000 a year, because I can plug it in at work every day and not spend a penny on gas. For me, buying a $30,000 electric car, and selling it for $18,000 in 4 years would basically mean getting a car for free. The entire 4 years of depreciation would be 100% payed for out of savings on gas. If BMW waits until after 2010 to bring over the 123d, I'll probably have already bought something else. |

There is always something bigger and better coming. Eventually you just have to suck it up and buy, otherwise you'll be driving an old clunker while you sit around and wait for the next big thing.
