Here in the states we have NHTSA. If you have the equivalent in Germany I would report the questionable safety of the tail lights.
That may spur BMW to step up and just replace them with the newest iteration, and stop stressing everyone out. No hassles, no fuss, just do it because it's the safe thing to do. |

DAMN
The other day I noticed my driverside taillight LED was out. Issue, my european warranty ended the end of July Now I'm going to have to try and convince the A-Holes at the dealership that they should have atleast replaced the seals during my 25,000km service back in June! Something tells me I'm coming out of the pocket for this, and I hate it. The service of the BMW dealerships towards americans over here is horrible. I might have to bring a german friend or my father-in-law along so they don't try and screw me over.....again!

I guess I am clue less.
I have a, 2011 128. Are all the tail lights in the 1 series "LED" or just the 135's? I understand mine is not part of the "TSB" for tail lights. Just a general question. |

I'm looking at the parts lists, can anyone confirm that I need two of the red highlighted seals to replace the other two? Or is it an internal seal not the main foam gasket?

I'd sooner avoid the hassle of going through the dealer since they're only 12 bucks apiece. |

All tail lights that you can see at night while the brakes are not on are LEDs. The brake lights are just normal bulbs. You have the newer LEDs that are L shaped. I believe the ones that fail are the older style 3 straight lines, which you do not have.
