Most oil changes?
Saw a BMW classified that listed N oil changes in the car description (IIRC, it was 19 oil changes and the car had 60K miles).
I had the 6th oil service done on my '09 135i today at a mileage of 9K. The first 5 oil services were performed by the previous owner in the first 4500 miles. While I'm loving the OCD nature of the first owner's care of my car, I'm going to go forward with 5K oil services along with Blackstone UOA. I always did 7500 oil change intervals on my E46s, but 5000 miles will give me the warm fuzzies for this N54. |

19 changes in 60K wouldn't really be that many for an American or Japanese car. That's about every 3,000 miles. I had a 2004 Jeep Wrangler and they specified every 3 months or 3,000 miles for oil changes. Same thing with my 2008 Mazda Speed3. My 370z was 3 months or 3,750 miles. I've always wondered why American and Japanese cars require so many more oil changes that German cars. I'm going with every 5,000 on my 135.
5 in 4500 miles is a lot for anything. I bet you've got a record there unless someone looks back to the old days when we changed oil every 1,000 miles. |

IIRC, 19 in 60K was for an BMW E46 with synthetic.
Agreed about dino oil in American or Japanese cars. It's easy to go 3K when the local oil change joint advertised $20 USD. |

What is Lifetime fluids? Is it how long you opperate the car? How long it lasts? Or how long the warranty lasts? Or when the manufacture wants you to buy another one? I am a firm believer in that oil is cheaper then a new engine. So I go with short OCI's. I used to work in the service dept of a large German car dealership... I have seen a "few people" drive a car for three years and NEVER change the oil! Some people are like that. I can't understand those types of people. I really do not buy into BMW 15K/1year OCI's - regardless there are many here that go by it. I guess time will tell who is right on the OCI debate. I woulld say bc the D.I. (direct injection) dilutes the oil with fuel... and IF you drive short distances... you should go with a shorter OCI than what BMW says. I go with 5K to 6K mile OCI. Dackel |

I do every 7,500 miles with BMW's oil. Of course, I only have 12,000 miles on my car, which means I've only ever had 1 oil change (at my expense, as it wasn't considered "condition based service" and I was living in Europe at the time, where maintenance isn't covered anyway).
I would've liked to have a break-in oil change at 1200 miles, but at the time I was living in Spain and oil changes were nearly $300 -which is what I paid for the last oil change. I could've done it myself, but it would have been almost the same price (the labor was actually quite cheap - about $13 IIRC, but the oil itself is super expensive in Europe).

I change my oil every 5000 miles, but oil + filters are pretty much free at work

I do the 7,500 interval. One is for ffree and one is on me. I own and plan to own it to 100k at least. I'm at 43k now. I did do a 1200 mile change when it was new.

I have my oil analyzed. So far all my cars could have gone longer than the recommended interval. It also tells you if there's abnormal wear going on. If you don't analyze you're only guessing, no matter how good the guess makes you feel.
