what about the volume of the music form the ipod?
Since I'm frequently using the aux connector in 325xi the volume from ipod is much lower than straight from the radio. It's a bit annoying to increase the volume on the stereo unit when changing the input form radio to ipod. Even if the ipod has almost max volume the music is still quieter than form radio...
How does the connection work with the ipod connector and not aux?
Thanks, Pav

yes... you can adjust the input level of the ipod on the menu, i believe.... but i havent actually tried it that as the ipod is controlled fully the volume level set on the ipod itself actually makes no effect at all..

Wow, our country learned english from your country? haha...

If you have idrive it is a menu setting (on the bimmer screen, not the ipod), not sure about non-idrive.

Not seen that function - can somebody post the menu items to follow to find it - not that I need it however, I'd say that the volume seems fine - remember that it's using the fixed line-level output, not the variable headphone level output...

Yep, it is easy to alter the level of the Aux / Ipod with the USB connection.

On the Professional Stereo when in Ipod mode there is a defaul option to the right of Artist IIRC that says Lev for Level - click that and adjust.

I have been testing the Logic 7 with CD versus Ipod recently and I can't tell the difference which is cool. But I have my MP3's set to the lowest compression on my Ipod which will help.

Hmmm... I can't see it. It's not an issue as the level is fine, but if I'm just being dopey, can someone with iDrive and USB / Aux point it out to me?

Has anyone noticied that the USB connection into a USB key, just crashes or stops working? mine has done it a few times. The only way to resolve it is to remove/reinsert the key and away it goes again... any ideas?

Here's something I hadn't thought of before:

Does the head unit (Professional in this case) play AAC encoded files straight from a USB stick?

If not, then I'm left with the choice of either using my iPod - impaired sound quality from using Aux input?

or

Re-ripping everything into mp3 instead. Which is going to take a long time, and even more annoying as I've just started ripping everything into 320kbps AAC, which I'd have to go back and redo

Sound quality is not impaired from the Ipod.

Seriously, I was surprised.

Our other car just has the Aux connection and it does sound crap, but the USB / Phono connection is much much better.

I have played CD's back to back with my Ipod and struggle to hear any difference, and that's through the Logic 7.

It is helped by the Aux level that can be increased as above.

Ah ok, cheers. Fair enough.

I may just get myself another iPod in that case then for the commute into work, and leave the other in the pocket under the armrest. It'll give me a good excuse to get a Touch now then!

That's what I do.

I have an Ipod in the car with less albums as it is hard to scroll and I have an Ipod at home with all 300 albums.

I leave my Ipod permanently in the car.

You can play direct from a stick, and the head unit supports aac. There is no loss in sound quality in using an ipod/aux versus a stick provided you are using the same file.

On the prfessional unit, when you are in AUX mode - press the button that says "AUX Level" - then ajust between 1 and 6 with the right hand knob. It is way too easy.
