Headlight Condensation?

Ok, so just picked up my E90 today. It's a bit cold, around 50 degrees and rainy. I love the car, it's superb. But I noticed, when I got the car in the garage, that there is condensation in each of the headlights. I'm pretty sure there isn't supposed to be. Recommendations? Is there anything I can do to correct the problem or do I need to take it in to have it fixed? Thanks.

It's normal and will go away in 1-2 weeks.

Accounting4Speed, you finally picked up your car!
Glad to see another local E90 owner. What color is your car with what rims?

Just in case I see you on the road.

Funny you should say that. We picked up our E91 two weeks ago and it was cool and rainy that evening. When we got the car into the garage I noticed both headlights has considerable condensation inside. I've been keeping an eye on it every time the weather is cool and damp but haven't seen it since. I wondered if maybe it has something to do with moisture trapped inside during the journey here.... but I still keep looking.

Exacty same thing here. I picked up my brand new e90 from the dealership yesterday, and it was around 10 degress (c) outside and raining, when I pulled into the garage I noticed a lot of condensation in the headlights. The weather was much better today, so no condensation - but I will keep an eye on it.

Why is this such a common problem on the E90?

There was probably some moisture left in the housings from either the factory or the boat ride (though I can't see how moisture can get into the housing since the condensation goes away and never comes back - proves that the housings are perfectly sealed) that needed to be burned off from the heat of the headlights, which is why most people get it on the first night of ownership and it never occurs again.

I just bot back from the dealer and i asked about this... what they said is that the headlight needs to breathe, because of the temperature of the Xenon bulbs so the headlight isnt air tight. a little water condensation is allowed to build up in the headlight. the way to find if it's "leaking" is that if there is water in the headlight, take the car outside in the sun and leave the headlights on for 20 mintues. at the end of that 20 minutes if there is still water in the headlights then there is a problem.
I dont really think there should be water in the headlights to start with, but this is what the dealer is telling me

I don't know why I didn't address it in my earlier post.

Accounting4Speed, I had the exact same problem. I think it happened for first few days. When I picked up my car, weather was cold and rainy for a week or so. it somehow doesn't do it anymore. As you can already tell since we live in same area, its colder nowdays. No condensation. Don't worry too much. If problem persists, call up the dealership and get it serviced.

Did you get it from Rasmussen or Kuni?

I stopped by the BMW / Rolls Royce dealership in NC last night and noticed condensation on the headlights of new cars parked outside. I thought it was just the cold weather.

Also had a chance to see the new colors on the e90.

Sonara was quite nice with beige interior. It was in the showroom, 325 without sport. Would look even better on 330 sport IMO.

Deep Green was much better than expected. 330 sport with terra interior. Great looking combo. Actually it was smoking HOT!!

Barrique was well.... (no offense to those owners, but I hated it. It was a 330 sport with beige interior)

Mystic Blue was great too! It was a 330 premiun with gray leather.

And last thing, they had a Black M5 ....... WOW!!!!! The Rolls were hot too.

Rasmussen Lux. I am not a fan of Kuni, those guys just aren't as curteous and professional as Rasmussen. Not to mention my CA was the most helpful guy ever. He even said that if my car has to come in for service and they have to keep it overnight and are out of loaners that he'll give me his car. That's customer service for you.

My sis had the same problem with her 07 530xi. It went away eventually. Congrats on the new car. Now, post pics or it never happened.

Just picked mine up Saturday (e92) and it also had condensation inside. I installed GP Thunder angel eyes the next day and left the light assemblies open to let the moisture evaporate. Worked like a charm - they are bone dry now and sealed since I put the covers back on. Nice that they are so easy to vent and reseal.
