Snow tires (tpms) question

Anyone order snows from tirerack with pressure sensors?

I need to know whether I can initialize the new sensors myself through the nav tpms reset function or if a trip to the dealer will be required.

TIA

The Tire Rack TPMS sesnors worked absolutely fine for me. Reset via the dash, drive a few miles and the light goes off.

yes you can reset them using the car's dash.

I have the tirerack ones and mine sometimes go inactive. It seems to do it when it's really really cold, but sometimes it just randomly does it. overall though I'm still happy with them.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

How have you guys found the car in the snow? I was gonna go with Blizzaks and 17's (205's front & rear).

The car really drives well with a good set of snow tires. Blizzaks are good for snow. But not for the dry days between the snow days. The Bliz's are kind of rubbery ride/cornering on dry roads. IF you have snow - for a solide amount of time, then get the Blizs.

I prefer Dunlap M3's or Good Year's snows for dry and winter time mix. I also have a 205 square set up on 17x7j wheels. I have to have a good dry & wet weather performance too with my snow setup. And when the white stuff comes... they are almost as good as the Blizz's in deep snow.

No you don't need new sensors or wheels. BUT.... it makes life sooo much easier!! IF you plan on keeping your car, in a few years the cost of new alloy wheels would pay for themselves. Compared to paying $100 every six month for the swap over. Not to mention any damage the tire monekys might do to your alloy wheels.

Make the investment in an extra set of snow wheels, tires and TPMS sensors.

No reset was required for me.

But you can do it easily.

Blizzaks ruled when I got caught out the night the blizzard hit Pittsburgh in February. I was leaving behind FWD cars. (One hill was still pretty hairy, but they got me up and to a safe haven for the night.)

I had 17" Blizzaks, 215s front and rear. (205s would've been better for snow, but Tire Rack was out of stock when I bought mine.)
