It was 740 units for the US and I believe 450 units for the UK. Production was still going on through this year for other markets around the world.

+1 and i still have the email where i was quoted 15,000 euros to have the car stripped down, painted titanium silver and rebuilt as i could not order the car in any other colour on the production line

Yes the interior stitching better match the exterior color or else that is a MAJOR screwup IMO.

Basically he says that in the next few days the very last 1M will be built at Leipzig. This green 1M was called: Project Green Mamba and that the color is called: Java Green

The picture was taken on Thursday, June 22, 2012.

The author "Benny" also states that the car will meet its new owner in a few short weeks. It also sounds like there might be some "other" special options on this car, to make it as dangerous as the real African Mamba snake. I guess we shall see.

Also... some of the "visitor comments" seem to be from two other Leipzig plant workers... and that they were surprised someone would risk their job to take this picture. And also that BMW Leipzig was even still running factory plant tours as this Java Green 1M car made its way down the assembly line! One "worker" made a comment that this was NOT the only "specail" 1M to be built in a special color before - just that it is the first one that the public has seen. He mentioned that normally the plant tours are cancelled when such special cars are run thru the line.

When I ordred my second 1M -that has been delivered one month ago- they told me it was IMPOSSIBLE to get Individual on any 1M !

And tonight in the middle of nowhere in the swiss moutains, the engine of my GTS which has problems.

I get problems with about every ///M, but here we are talking about a track car !!!!!

FUCK BMW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you take into consideration including all the logistics , restitution for stopping the production line , transport etc to and from Garching you are talking about almost near enough the cost of another 1M.
That is why they refused standard customer indivudual cars at the usual cost because it would not be cost effective in regards to disruption to the production line.
They are one offs for BMW employees and special customers but all costs are handled in advance before work commences.
There are several BMW AG executives and family and friends who have personalised 1M Coupe's.
