This probably does greatly depend on the area. Total # of 1 series cars can't change but probably some areas of US are have more people buying them used while other regions people are selling and going to newer car models.
As I mentioned, there's just a lot of BMWs in general where I work so I've always seen a decent # of 1 series (of course much less often than all the 3 series that are everywhere). In my small office parking lot alone, there are at least 3-4 1ers in the parking lot.

Ordered a pair of bumper plugs from these guys and they came painted with instructions for drilling. Perfect paint, easy instructions, even someone like me (as mechanically inclined as a gnat*) could do it. *No offense to Suprgnat

Given that the cars have been out of production for months, there can only be less and less of them on the road.
I've never understood the vitirol on this site when I hear people talk about "mostly 128i's, usually driven by women." Who cares? Maybe she's a gearhead. Maybe she just likes BMW's. Maybe she doesn't like creepy guys giving her a thumbs up just because they have the same car. (As an aside, I've never really been into this either. I frankly think it's kind of weird that someone would make a U-turn in order to go out of their way and give someone a thumbs-up, but I digress). To be entirely honest, I think it's pretty stupid to make any kind of value judgement against a person based on the car they drive, or their gender. When I go to BMW events, about half the dudes are douche-tards anyway. And I've seen some pretty great women drivers at events, too. Just sayin'. I am in no way attempting to flame anyone on this site.

Where I live there is a total of maybe 5-6 1-ers. Two are ours. My 135 and my wife's 128.
A friend has a blue 135, and there are two diff random 128s. Needless to say I rarely see any other than my own |

At our local Cars and Coffee, I get as many looks as the standard E92 M3s since our 1ers are not out there as much as the 3-series. It helps if you park next to a beater WRX too. .

My neighbor who has an E60 M5 stashed in his garage wasn't even aware of the 1-series. Any BMW without xDrive is an uncommon find around here. You'll see some M-cars during the summer months amongst the relative swarms of 911's, but the all-season performance car of choice is the S and RS Audi's. I'd expect to see any flavor of M-car (including one E28 M5 that appears from time to time) before I see another 1-series.

Sales numbers 1 vs 3
3 series sales US&C
http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2011/01...s-figures.html 1 series sales US&C: http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2011/01...s-figures.html about 10-1 in favor of the 3. Goes to show there's more of them to see.

One of the primary reasons I purchased my CPO 135i 4 months ago now was because I rarely saw them on the road and even the fact they were "discontinued" made them more attractive to me over even the new 2 series.
in 4 months I seen 2 135is and no 135i's, handful of base 128's I love my car

Thanks thrilla,
got mine from the dealer at a pretty good discount, but you can get them different places. Here are my part numbers: Front 36-11-6-787-645 size 18x7.5 Rear 36-11-6-787-646 size 18x8.5 These say "BMW Performance" on them, instead of an "///M" on them, like the ones that come on the 135is. I like that better. Don't want another ///M on my non-M car.
