N52 Dyno (z4 3.0si)

Hey guys,

I wanted to drop in this bit of information to help with searches in the future for those looking to mod their n52 to 1/330, 3.0si #'s

This was the best run out of 3: 235whp & 225tq
2006 Z4 3.0si 73.5kmiles.
Only "Mods" k&n drop in, charcoal filter removed, DTC all the way off.

To my knowledge my engine comes stock with the 3-stage manifold and a different ecu program, (which I beleive is what you guys are upgrading to)

Good numbers. If you ever have the chance, would you mind checking out which style of headers you have? I'm curious if you have the gimped US x28i version, or the euro equal length style.

Thanks for the post!

It does and feels great. I've been meaning to put it on the dyno since May last year. I'm finally getting serious about modding it. I should be getting the AA tune in a few weeks.

Those are indeed the same as US spec(gimped) headers. Fantastic numbers considering you still have the cats in place.

Hes running a MSV 70 ECU and probably no middle Cat's and the Z 3.0SI gets the most aggressive factory tune & has a different drive shaft so different loss #. AA or any tuner can get you to probably 240-243 WHP

Those numbers are essentially identical to STIGs and he has headers and a tune.

its about a 8-10 whp difference if you look at Z dynos
Im sure 130i MSV70's topped out on a tune put down similar numbers, even Grmans claim the 130i gets 'crank' 275-280hp estimate thats a 10 ish premium to the euro 125i when tuned

Impressive, but the numbers are STD correction, which really can't be compared to SAE numbers like ST|G. Regardless, this just shows there is more power left on the table in all of these cars.

For what it's worth, ESS's test car was at 225whp with STD numbers, and GTKrockeTT's STD numbers were about 230whp and another member with a muffler and airbox was around 235whp with a 330i.

The difference overall between STD and SAE is about 2.6% meaning he's at a solid 229whp - Not bad.

i made 225/202 at the rear wheels std correction with the stock designed collectors, without the cats(mapleridge), the 3 stage manifold and AA headers tune.

I'm going to a dyno day in Jersey in a few weeks if anyone's interested(cherry hill i believe). It's a mustang dyno, i'll get the dyno sheet posted up after.

Ditch the Injen Intake and use your stock box.

Heat soak isn't a concern of mine, it never showed up significantly(3hp?) on the dyno even on the hottest day of 93 degree's. besides i threw my stock box out because i broke it when i was moving it around.. it was also wasting space

But when i pulled those numbers my post cat o2 sensors were still mixed up. I had the shop guys clear the codes so i had no CEL, but thats because the codes were just freshly wiped. I dynod with literally 0 miles on the adaptation period.

I suspect i'll pull 230+rwhp with my new updated tune, a proper adaptation period and the o2 mix up fixed.

Lol yeah I'll be lucky to hit 200 on a mustang. I meant on the original dyno I've been using for all my testing.

Reminds me that I need to schedule a followup now that it is cooler out and I hopefully won't pull timing again.

Update! 239/230. Same set up, except I had the muffler deletes last Saturday. It's also 78* vs maybe 89* during the last one don't know how the temp can change the numbers on basically 10*
