Shocking Dyno

So I know that Dyno jets read high but other people using them have gotten about 280 whp or so just from browsing the forums and what not but here's a picture of my Dyno 3rd run which was my best

That's probably accurate for the mods. Intake + exhaust would probably get you there.

I'm not sure about "shocking", but it's more than I'd expect to see. The stock 300/300 numbers are at the flywheel, not the tires. Assuming an average 12% loss of power through the drivetrain you'd usually see between 260-270 hp/tq on a stock 1er.

Intake and exhaust might get you another 15 or so, putting you around 285. So it be above that with those mods is pretty good. Dyno could be off, and he does say it's a Dynojet that reads high.

Good numbers for a nearly stock N55. Now you have a baseline, let the modding begin!

BMW has understated their engines since the beginning of their existence. Better to under sell and over perform than the opposite. Creates a happier customer base.

What do the DCT cars dyno at stock? I know there has to be a lot of pumping losses through that trans.

I'm DCT I only have intake and axleback I've seen people on the forums get between 270-280 pure stock and that's what I was expecting that's why I'm shocked to have gotten 301hp and 303tq

Not really, a regular torque converter automatic has more lose.

dynos vary quite a bit, so I wouldn't get too excited. Its all in how they're calibrated, and some shops intentionally make them "happy" to make the customers feel better. An example is an Evo shop on long island, ny. They have a dyno dynamics dyno, which will read about 20-30whp less than a dynojet. Friend of mine has his car dynoed and tuned there, makes 360whp. A few weeks later, he goes to another shop, in NJ (names withheld to protect the innocent, lol), who is well known in the Evo community and has a dynojet, which again, should read a bit higher. Car makes 350whp.... so, shop 1 was playing with the dyno to make people happy. I say, use the number as a baseline and see what other mods do as go along.

You can make a dyno spit out pretty much any number you want. It is more useful for back to back runs and comparisons, not actual HP and torque.

Yeah I figured I'm mainly using this as a baseline for when I start to mod but it was just surprising to see 300
