first is was 340hp, then 330hp, then 320, then 306, 304, 302. god damn what the hell is the real number. Plus dont be so worried about not having 47 more hp in your car due to some smaller turbos, just get the horsepower freaks kit, and you will eat the 335.
Its all about the badging I think, maybe what most of us are worried about is, we bought 330's because we wanted a higher model with more HP and the 330 is a status symbol over a 325, but now were being booted down and other will think, its like well be the owners of a 325????

I'm not really feelin' the front - looks too cat-like. The E90's front looks much better IMO. Are those orange strips covering some turn signals b/c it already looks like it has side-blinkers.

Or you could turn up the boost pressure in the 335 for a couple hundred dollars and gain an easy 50 hp/50 tq with little to no effect on engine response?

You endanger your warranty either way.

Don't be surprised if BMW releases a more aggressively tuned version of this engine in the near future for use in a ZHP-like model. One big advantage of forced induction (from the manufacturer's standpoint) is that you can develop an entire range of power outputs for next to nothing in terms of development costs.

I'd be surprised if it starts at $42k. I've been saying since the beginning that it will be $45-$47k.

306 hp is a European figure.
This engine has not been presented anywhere publicly
in U.S. spec. My guess is that the 306 hp converts
to roughly 300 hp for the U.S.

And as far as price goes, yeah, $42K in base price sounds about right.
That will likely leave the sedan to start at about $40K.

Whatever its not going to be that fast anyway. So many cars will still smoke it in a drag so 50hp more then a 330 is meaning less imo.

Turbo gas motors often have problems. More stuff to break!

you guys really think they will come out with a 335i sedan? From the article, they wanted to drop the c from the coupe. So the coupe is called the 335i. I wonder if BMW is doing something similar to say infiniti, where the g35 sedan has less power than the coupe. I know that they matched the power output now... but you think they might wait a while before putting the turbo version into the sedan? :dunno:

No way. Too much. Would you pay 10k for an extra 50 hp? Would anybody? I wouldn't either.

Look at this way: the 2006 M3 starts at just under $49,000 right now, and that's an M car with well over 300 hp. This car is due out in a couple months - you'd have to smoke a serious rock of crack to willingly pay nearly the same amount for a run of the mill 3 series with 30 hp less, and lacking features like an LSD and whatnot.

Personally, I think the new M3 will be in the 55k range and this car will start in the low 40s at the very most. BMW has been on a value trend lately and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

They'll bump the horsepower up in all of the other models when Direct Injection shows up across the board.
Seriously akhbhaat, the 335 sedan or Coupe for that matter, is going to fill the same slot that the 330 fell into years ago. More expensive, but well balanced all around and costs a bit more than the average buyer would want to pay, hence lower volume. You may as well forget the E46 M3...that car is done...finished ....KAPUT.

I can just picture someone in the showroom right now:

Salesman:"Well over here we have the 325 hp M3..this is a special car...hence the $49K price tag."

Customer: "But why does this new 2007 model cost only $43K?"

Salesman: "Globalization. Car prices are dropping all across the world due to increasing economies of scale.
This new car costs us a lot less to build ."

$42K sounds reasonable to me as far as a guess on how much it will cost to start with. It doesn't sound reasonable to me to pay that much for the car unless sport and premium packages are standard.

The only sedans I know of that BMW has built with those items standard are the M cars, if I'm not mistaken.
