1M with 135i tips

For those who may have waiting here are some pics of the 135i tips I fitted to my 1M. The right hand side tip needs a little adjusting downwards.

Sorry I didn't go to the trouble of a full studio and lighting shoot, but tough bikkies ( bickies? ).

That's a beautiful car, each time I see one I must admit I'm tempted to trade up.

Want the chrome gone

3 months into ownership and I'm still not crazy about the stock chrome tips. Maybe I'm odd, but the 'drone' doesn't really bug me. The blingy chrome tips on the other hand does.

Coming from the 135i I found the black chrome tips to be so sweet. They were nice and subtle, and a perfect mate to the shadowline trim predominant on the vehicle.

Is this mod just a tap off, tap on exercise or is there more involved than meets the eye?

Anyone else performed this drill besides OP?

I really want to zing the bling without shelling out big bucks to do so.

The OEM 1M chrome tips should tap off quite easily with a plastic hammer or hammer and wood block..

Just send them off to get black chromed..

You will need to sleeve the standard pipe ends to fit the larger diameter 135i tips. Best done with the muffler off the car. Do it so that it is reversible if you want the car to look stock at resale.

BTW, in Australia the replacement cost for the standard tips is over $400 each. Unfuckingbelievable.

Thanks to both of you gentlemen from the land of down(but not out)under for your suggestions.

You can get the stock black chrome 135i tips for about $40 ea., whereas the 1 M chrome tips are $48 ea. through getbmwparts.com.

Right now I'm leaning towards purchasing 4 of the 1 M tips and having a local business that specializes in chrome plating treat them to the desired darker look.

I'll definitely post pics once the project is done and the bling gone.
