People who had a smaller car before 1er..

I have a r56 MCS and 135i coupe felt bigger...almost too big. Does the feeling go away? Do you get used to it? Or is it really not that big?

The only way a 135i could feel big is if you're a smaller than normal midget.

I haven't gotten a 1er yet, but i have test driven it a couple times. Coming from a Miata it didn't feel "big" to me at all, it did however feel a little less connected with the steering. What about it felt big? Steering? weight transfer? braking?

Went from Porsche Boxster to 135i. Felt much bigger for test drives and first week after purchase. It's just been a long, long time since I had a back seat.

For me, the transition to the 135 has been a good one; the sensation of relative "BIG-ness" in the 1 vs. the Boxster subsided quickly. Still feels compact and nice and low to the road.

That's my perspective also, came from a Miata, the 135i isn't all that big. But there are very few other cars out there that are as connected from tire contact patch to steering wheel rim as the Miata.

I came from an MCS, as well. The car doesn't feel too much larger, and the adjustment hasn't taken long at all. If you were coming from an R53 like I was, I would tell you that you are in for a much less jarring ride, but I think they smoothed some of that out in the R56. Like the MINI, I've had some fun in the corners with this one.

I came from an Infiniti G35 coupe. My 1er 135 has more internal space (very welcomed leg and head room) but feels more compact and agile with its external dimensions (also to my liking). This BMW is my best-ever car!

In a few weeks with my new 1, I'm starting to think headroom counts for more than legroom. I always thought my wife's Mini Cooper "felt" less claustrophobic than my Boxster; the reason was headroom, not wasn't actual cockpit space. For the driver coming from smaller car, 128/135 design seems great for comfort without sacrificing snug sports coupe fit.

I learnt to drive in a Honda CRV, which by UK standards is HUGE. Then I bought a Renault Clio, by any standards very very small. I am delighted to now be in a middle-size car. The clio was great in how nippy it was (I live and drive around central London mostly), but the 1er carrys that on as well as feeling more substantial. I love it!

I still have my R53 though it's totaled...ahum...different story & thread...
I've felt like my 1 was way big also and wondered when that feeling would go bye bye.
While on ED I almost bumped the nose into a building I pulled into to park on top of the Stilveo Pass...almost fainted when I saw how close I'd come. Made a mental note: 1 has longer nose than MINI...and then that awesome butt the 1 has on it...nice & high...but hard to see over. Aha well, I'll learn I'm sure.
Wheel to steering feeling got loads better after the new sways went on day after I picked him up PCD.
I was ready for a bigger car and the 1 was as far as I wanted to go....still total fun but more lux.:headbang:

Coming from the S2K the 1 is huge!

It feels a bit smaller now after 6 months, but I still enjoy meeting up with my father on the weekends and going for a spin in his Boxster S. Something about a small car that I love...

I came from an Audi TT and while the 1 feels bigger, it doesn't feel too big.

My wife had a Miata. That car was a blast to drive, like a street legal go-kart.

Have had plenty smaller. For a fun car that can still haul groceries, the 1er's just about right.

perfect size IMO. Enough presence to feel relatively secure with the big rigs (quickness plays a small factor), and compact for city/town drives. Just about the size of my old E30, I miss that car everyday...
