Way to get thread jacked!

Car looks awesome, congrats man; million times better than a G IMO.

For the record, I hate the exhaust note on them. (Yes, everyone I know loves it)

Someone on this forum once said that a G exhaust note sounds like a cow. Now all I can think of when they drive by is "MOOOOOOOOOOOOO." They ruined it... and I have an FX35...

I strongly disagree.

The VQ37 (and VQ35) are incredibly coarse (to the point of resembling a coffee grinder) from about 5500 up to redline.

It's nice that the v6 has the ability to get close to 8k rpm, but it's not very rewarding in either the sound from the engine bay or the feedback through the pedals or shifter.

This is a common complaint when it comes to the VQ35/37. It's a great engine overall, but it's not without its issues.

OP, welcome. I'm moving from a 370 to the 135. Have both in the driveway. While the 370 is a "true" sports car and has the looks to go with it, the 135i is more refined and simply feels better on the road.

Enjoy.

I absolutely love the 370z , but the things that ruined the car for me were:

1. Unrefined engine.
2. Ride quality. Horrible daily driver. (I am in stop n go traffic for 1 hour)
3. Shifter vibrates like hell beyond 5500 rpm.
4. A similarly equipped used Z costs almost the same as the 1er. (Atleast in my case)
5. Only two seats. I know the 135's rear seats are pretty much unusable. But atleast i can try and fit 4 ppl in there.

Other than those gripes, the 370 is a full on, raw sports car, that will be amazing on back roads and track days . But, as a daily driver, not for me.

Getting in and out is the only annoying thing about the back seats of the 135i. I had 4 adults in my car on many occasions without issue.

I loved my 350z... maybe the Vortech took away from the "coarse" engine noises you guys talk about, but hey.... to each his own.

I love my 135, but I loved my Z in a totally different way. I guess once you become a true Z enthusiast, you look past the small stuff for the total package of the car itself.

OP, again, welcome to the forums.

I can agree with the above. I never missed the back seats when moving to my 350 and then 370. Just my wife and I, so we use her vehicle if we have passengers

It's really weird having a back seat in the 1er, but the improved daily drive (I commute 100mi every day) is worth the tradeoffs.

I'm personally very interested in seeing the new, smaller, lighter, and smaller-displacement FI engine that's supposedly coming in 2015. Perhaps it would be something to look at then, but at this time, the 135 is king

Ahhh, from being a former Z and G owner, I see the drama from those forums have followed you Mr. Brown! lol ;-)
Congrats on your new car; not sure if you're into modding but you'll soon find out that HP gains are at a fraction of the cost with the BMW in comparison to any VQ platform!

Isn't that the truth. I'm still blown away but the cost difference between the two platforms. I thought BMW would be MUCH more expensive (or at least the same) and it's damn cheap compared to modding the VQ... not to mention that the gains to be had aren't exactly huge.

Dude, don't get me started! I went through 3 motors in my Z running 8lbs of boost (bad tunes). My G was another nightmare! BMW FTW! hands down!
Sorry I know but I hate the VQ platform for that reason... As far as the exhaust notes goes. The reason why the VQ sounds the way it does is because the Motor isn't a performance motor, is a cheap Jap sedan motor. They gave it a "sporty" sound by using certain mufflers and resonators... Sorry for the rant I just despise both the G and the Z, they do look good but I know those cars in and out; I also know Sh1t when I see it!

Haha I hate drama and people biotching. The Z/G crowd and even the e90 crowd for that matter seem to like putting down the e80s. I guess they get intimidated when they see our "cute" cars destroying them! I am all about respecting personal tastes, being an individual, and not following the herd. I live in the Atlanta region and spotting a 135i is harder than spotting a ferrari and I love that. People always stare at the car thinking what BMW is that!

Mr. Brown knows what I'm talking about being a former G owner. The Z and G forums seem to be filled with bashing; I was just poking at him because it seemed that the "exhaust note" thing was almost pop corn status! lol

I'm the same way Mr. Brown...

I absolutely understand where you are coming from. Being a true enthusiast is not about what badge you are driving, its the way you feel behind the wheel. If a Kia drove like the 135i did, I would buy it no matter what ppl have to say about it.

Thanks for all the welcome's! Proud to be a 1addict!

Welcome!!

Before I got the family hauler, the Acura MDX, I really wanted a G37 but wife convinced me otherwise. the G37 would have made a great family car but space wins out. Now I got a 135i and couldn't be happier.

Seems like a lot of former z/g guys step up to to 135i as their next car. As I am trying to do this as well lol. I can vouch for all the drama z/g people create...... I was involved with a local club and it became very opinionated and just down right judgmental towards everyone. Not where I want to be

Congrats on the purchase Mr. Brown

The 135i is the way to go, performance of a 370z, ride quality of a 3 Series, nimbleness of a Mini.

I am a former 350z owner. And I got out of my IS-F for my 135i. The feeling you get while driving this car is unlike any car I have ever had. Its addicting to say the least.

Thankfully I never had any problems with neither of my VQ's, but I hear horror stories from friends of mine that do.
