Does any of you already changed their battery?

I just tried to start my 1m after 4 month of winter storage earlier. Seem like the battery won't take any charge and my powerpack was to weak to start it up. I am now charging my powerpack and I will try again later but it's seem like that battery is on her last leg.

If this is the original battery, in your car which is about 4.5 years old, it's not surprising that it needs replacing. Car batteries should last at least 3-4 years, but anything beyond that should be considered a "gift." Colder climates can reduce the lifespan of car batteries.

If the car is not stored connected to a battery tender, then over a few weeks time the battery will be drained by the car's electronics, which are on even when the car is turned off. When a car battery is drawn down close to zero, it frequently cannot be revived. If you have not been in the habit of connecting your car up to a battery tender when it is not being actively used, once you get your current battery replaced would be a good time to start doing so.

I'm on second battery. Car was in Toronto and stored for winter. I bought a CTEK trickle charger. Do you have one?

I do have a battery charger that adjust to the load and need so I guess I could leave it there all winter. I'm just scared that something might end up going wrong doing so.

For long term storage, either use a (CTEK) charger, or disconnect the negative terminal. Disconnecting has bridged 6 months of storage for me. The car started as confidently as if with a fully charged battery.

Without either of these, our batteries will be drained within a month or 2 and dead beyond repair in ~ 3-4 months. If you have the alarm system & comfort access (in Europe less fast without rain sensor option) probably faster, these do not shut down power after 15-30 minutes after locking the car, like most fuse connections.

I haven't had any battery issues while storing my car but out of curiosity, what battery do you guys suggest we place our cars with? OEM, aftermarket? And what's the price points?

Best battery is lithium. They're retardedly lightweight and super buff vs abuse. The price point is not great but when you end up with a 6lb battery who's to complain? You can even remove all the battery cable that runs through the car and weighs 10+lbs and just mount the thing up front since they're so small / light.

You do need to make sure you get enough capacity for your intended use of the car, and also have someone recode you for the reduced capacity over pb acid.

I used a motorcycle shorai (LiFePO4) I got for free in my last car and then made my own for my e-bike with NCA cells. It's a lot cheaper that way as these batteries are very much a niche item and are rather overpriced. Since I can do this, I personally wouldn't buy a retail lithium car battery, but would recommend it to others who are flush with cash.

Here's a marginal example that will start your car easily as long as it doesn't get cold where you live.

You'll have better luck googling "lithium car battery" but beware, the results are all incredibly expensive. If you'd like to inquire about a custom battery that's reasonably priced for whatever capacity you desire you can PM me.

I once heard somebody say that if the car is locked, the electronics will not suck juice from the battery and that essentially the car has shut down. Does anybody know if this is true or not?

I switched to a Braille when my battery got around 4 yrs old in my 135. I replaced that replacement after 2.5 yrs with a cheaper version from BatteryPlus. Funny enough I still use my original 2008 to crank an occasional use Mercedes 6.9.

I ran into a similar problem and depleted my battery. Took the car in under warranty and they tested, then charged it up fully. Still the original battery and no issues. On my 3rd trickle charger though.

These batteries are the best from what I have heard. Cons are cost and maybe some heat

Mine was replaced just last week. It was at the point where it would show a bad-battery icon if I let the car sit for a couple of minutes in Accessory mode.
It was assessed at taking only 40% charge, and was replaced/coded by the dealer for a mere $425.
