Good Burnout????

So I've gone to the drag strip a few times and every time I have been I have not been about to get a good burnout before the run. I have a 08 6AT and when i try to power brake the car (with DTC off and I've even held the DCT button to turn all driving aids off) the motor bogs down and the brake symbol comes on.

Does anyone know how to eliminate this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Try bumping it forward, like letting off the brake, to get it rolling then hit the brakes again? You are rolling thru the water right?

Have you tried bumping it forward like BFD99 said?

He never answered my original question either, are you rolling thru the water or driving around? That should make a big difference. Usually if you try the burnout past the water that they may already have some VHT down in that section, in which case it will be alot stickier and harder to spin the tires. Start your burnout in the water, get it rolling, then keep on the throttle and let of the brake slowly, you will keep the tires spinning for a few seconds while you move out of the water. Then you should be good to go.

Same problem for me as well. Tried doing a doughnut in an empty parking lot when it was wet outside with DTC off (2008 N54) and the car bogs down and stops itself from spinning. My friend says his AMG is the same way when he turns traction control off. I don't really mind it, just makes the car that much safer...

Ive tried "bumping" it fowarder and yes i do go through water. Even if you don't go through water this 400+ rwhp monster will get the tires loose.

Anyways I've done some research and found what the problem is. You won't find this in writing anywhere. I've got a buddy that works for bmw service. It is a safety feature that was implemented after the Toyota/Lexus gas pedal sticking issue. There is a magnetic sensor that touches the brake pedal arm up under the panel above where your feet go. When the contact is separated, and you are holding the gas and brake at the same time... The safety feature kicks in.

I tried bypassing this by taking the sensor out of its bracket and securing it to the brake arm. Once that was done, i went to start the car and it wouldn't start because the car didn't recognize the brake was engaged. Thinking back on it now, maybe i could have put the car in neutral to start it. But i don't think that will work either.

I heard there is another method to bypass this issue. I was told the sensor is in a circus with the brake lights. If you can find the fuse to the rear brake lights, take it out...it should work. you will still need the running lights at the drag strip thought so i can't deactivated the 3 bars in the brake light housing.

If anyone gets one of these tricks to work, please let me know.

Thanks

Best explanation in this thread. I did this a while ago with a loaner 328i. So if you're bogging down a 135i, you're doing it wrong . You don't need M1. Works in D or DS, too.

So I tried this today with my 2012 135i DCT. I'm with submarshall on this one, something is preventing me from braking and having the rear wheels turn when I press the gas. I tried every transmission mode - DTC on/off - press and hold the DTC button....notta.

i'll 2nd that with my loaner 335d.. bogging down = you're on the brakes too hard its actually locking in the rear wheels as well.

Turn Everything off, bump the gearshift over to DS, bump forward to m1, with foot on the brake slowly apply more throttle, applying just enough more brake pressure to keep the car in place.

This car will do huge burnouts. Trust me
