GTC GT-CX 18" Wheel fitment

Hey guys

does anyone have any issues with GTC GT-CX fitment (similar to vmr 710)

Front Wheels: 18x8.5 ET +45
Rear Wheels: 18x9.5 ET +50
Front: 225/40/18
Rear: 255/35/18

I took them to a tyre shop to get them fitted and they refused to fit the wheels as the front was only clearing the strut by 3mm or so. Anyone else have this problem with these wheels?

I'm also curious to hear what aftermarket suspension you guys are running with these wheels and if you had any clearance issues.

I ran these before, there is absolutely no issues running these with stock suspension.

I only have 1.5 mm clearance on the new wheels, no issues.

I put on the wheels when I push the car a bit around corners and roundabouts I can hear a clunking sound. Took the wheel off looks like it rubbing the strut

Looks like it's hitting the tyre only a slight mark on the wheel

There is no way that wheel would hit the strut on the 135i, there must be something wrong either a bent strut or something is wrong with your suspension.

Many other people run this setup constantly without issues.

I ran this setup for over 6 Months

Can you take a picture of your suspension, are you running aftermarket stuff ?

Have you checked for play in your wheel bearings and ball joints ?

I can run 18x8 et48 with 235 RS3's or 18x8.5 ET45 with 235 semi's. It is close to the locking ring on my coilovers but nowhere near the strut body. I need to run a 3mm spacer for track work but daily it would be fine.

I'll try and take a picture today, I believe the car is still on stock suspension.

Check for play, put the stock wheel on and wobble top to bottom and left to right if there is any play there's your culprit if no play it may be time to get a suspension shop to check your front end out as it doesn't sound right. There's is now way that combo would hit a stock suspension setup if everything is alright

Have you checked both sides of the car do both wheels hit or just one side, did you buy the wheels brand new (might have been machined for a custom offset if second hand)

There's something definetly not right.

Where are you based at ?

I run that combination, and had rubbing/clunking at one wheel. It was due to a small clip-on balancing weight on the rim of the wheel. When removed, no worries, or use stick-ons if significant weight.

I ran this combo (with PSS) for 1.5 years and had no issues at all.

Pic here:

Back had a roll done, but I did it to run 19" wheels which I swapped out for the 18" GT-CX.

I checked the wheels again and fitment seems to be fine, wheels are brand new and rubbing strut on both side. best to get a suspension shop to check it out since so many of you guys are not havigng the same issues. Can anybody reccommend a good place in Perth to get this checked out?

Any pedders outlet will help you diagnose faults, and help you choose your course of action.

They have all the equipment to check these things

I've recently bought some 18" CX's and was told by Jax today that they couldn't get the 8.5 fronts on because they were hitting the struts. I'm running stock suspension on a 135 with stock RFT.

Did you end up resolving the issue @sr2223?

I ended up getting a wheel alignment and it seemed to fix the issue though to be honest I haven't had the chance to push the car hard lately . Sometimes upon reversing I do hear a knocking sound

Putting mine on now and they haven't put the tyres on yet and with the shocks at full travel hanging there they are about 1mm from the strut.

I asked them to go ahead and put the tyre on and put it down to see what happens. I await their handy work.

They put the tyres on and put it on the ground and there was no rubbing. They came up well on the car
