ST coilovers performance and ride quality?
I'm thinking of but ST coilovers. I won't be tracking my car but love taking my car out on mountain roads etc. I use the car for work so I want a balance between both.
I would like some feedback on other that have these on these car. Thank you! |

I have H&R Premium Coilovers on my 1er. Not stiff for my daily driver and offers basic ride height adjustment. Got my kit from TireRack for a great price. I'm in north county, so you can come by to check out how the coils ride for yourself.
My buddy recently has ST Coils (KW manufactured) on his E36 M3 and it definitely stiffer. I had KW V3s on my E46 M3 and that was stiff. Last edited by suprtran; 09-09-2012 at 10:49 AM.. |

I DD the ST setup on stock sways, mostly for the drop and look. Ride quality is very good especially considering the drop I'm running in the summer. My brother's mkIV R32 is on KWv1's (same basic thing) and on that platform the car is STIFF. He drives the 1er and always notes the smooth ride and settled feel. I'd say the ST rears are likely soft/underdamped based on nothing but feel, but it wouldn't deter me at the ST price point.
Bottom line, ST's are $$$/smile winners for those that don't track. I got mine for $780 from 1xracing which was a straight google find. The ST's save cost by using plastic rear collars and cheaper corrosion-prone body materials. That said, I rock them in upstate NY (snow/salt) with no worries, they are too cheap to worry about.

those of you who have them - Are you doing any track/AutoX or just DD and occasional "Spirited" driving?
