Supercharging this engine would be pointless. The 135i is a much better platform to work with for power.

People looking to make their car fast w/o a turbo, should consider an S54 motor for transplant.

why mod any car? really... i mean there is always something faster, always something a better bang for buck etc. always somethign thats just 5,000 more.

some people dont want to just buy something fast. there is a certain satisfaction from creating something fast. there's the "i started with X and now i have X" instead of the "i bought the top o the line model" satisfaction. I dont understand the negativity towards modding the 128. i understand the "not for me" but not the "why even try"

but i really didnt buy my 1 to mod. i bought it to drive, and if the mod bug bites me again, i'll pick up a used vette, sti or evo and beat the living piss out of it.

in Canada this makes more sense then it would in the states. In canada the price difference between 128i & 135i is nearly $13K when all said and done. Not to mention insurance costs. I got a quote for the 135i and it was $400 more a year to insure with my current company. That said regardless of price differential I see the 128i as a great mod potential car. I may not go the SC route but a good NA tuning that makes the car a little more rev happy like my old hondas and I'll be a happy camper.

Surely a blown 128 would be just as much, if not more, to insure than a stock 135i?

The only reasonable thing to do is put an e46 m3 motor into the car. Once that gets boring, some turbo's could be put in (if room permits) and you will blow the pants off most BMW's on the road.

Done, please let this thread die.

Supercharging/Turbocharging the N52 might not be the best idea. I think that was the point when BMW opted to make the N54 block all aluminum with cast iron liners to more reliably tolerate the stresses inherent with turbocharging. I guess you can make the assumption from the above that without modification of the internals, the N52 might not be a great motor for forced induction.

I already have 300 from my 135. In addition, I have a full warranty.
For the most part, any mods you do to a 128 to add 70+ will most likely void the waranty.

I have no factual evidence, but I heard on the grape vine that Horse Power Freaks is working on a hefty turbo kit for the N52...just thought I'd throw that out there

It sounds like somebody is a little envious of their big brothers and their 135s.

cute, but that is not the case. I completely agree with your statement but it is nothing we already knew. These pointless threads about trying to make a 128=135 match performance wise are pretty dumb. It should be common knowledge that the 135i is a much better performance platform.
LOL I will get off my soapbox now.

so with that math 128x2 gets no more than 2 testicle which is 256. so no one has 2 testicles... 135i < 256
