I wanted to share a few things i got for this set up.

I got these on amazon...

- Grifiti Nootle iPad mini 1, 2 Tripod Mount AND Mini Ball Head...This is a perfect case for the ipad mini WITH a threaded screw hole for a mount.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

- VideoSecu 1/4" x 20 Threads Swivel Mounts...The reason i bought this was for the circle w/ (3) holes, which will mount to the back of the dash compartment. (note: do not use the mini ball swivel that comes with this kit, it does not lock into place very well at all; use the mini ball mount that comes with the nootle)

i think my take on the set up will work great. but how well does the velcro method hold the ipad in place? Will it last long term or will it loosen up over time?

I'm using this method for more than a year. It's transparant (no visible mounts) and is very tight.

Not dead at all. Here is a video of my latest setup. As soon as it connects with the Kinivo BTC455 or I ask the assistant to enable it, it enters Car Mode like this:

Enabling Car Mode

What happens:
- Device gets unlocked without asking passcode
- Auto Brightness, VPN and Hotspot gets enabled
- Spotify starts and the last song begins playing and the volume gets maximized
- Flitsmeister starts, a Dutch police traps and trafic jams app
- Waze starts for navigation purposes
- The screens gets split so I can see navigation and police traps/traffic jams

- When I turn the car off, device gets locked and hotspot gets turned off

You'll need an iPhone or iPad with a jailbreak and the following tweaks:

- Activator, to enable all the activation stuff
- Activate Command, to program all the events happening under the hood to start the apps and split the screen
- Assistant+, to enable custom voice commands
- ByPass, to bypass entering passcode
- FullForce, to force iPhone apps to fit the iPad screen
- ReachApp, for the splitscreen
- ReachAll, to enable Reachability on the iPad Mini

If you need more details, feel free to ask.

I borrowed the the original idea of the author and also replaced the compartment. I also use the Kinivo Buetooth transmitter and the same Bluetooth remote (Satechi) and it works perfectly. I even use most of the above mentioned Cydia Tweaks like f.lux, CarMode and some Activator functions.

The difference is how I managed to secure the iPad. I used a Brodit iPad Mini mount (I replaced the Brodit badge with an M-Badge (so it might be a BMW original part ) and attached it to a custom made metal plate which is attached to the backside of the compartment. There is also an additional hole for a future charging cable. The mount is adjustable and I can easily take the iPad out, plus its got the perfect height and distance for the driver.

Another nice bonus is that I can actually use the camera which perfectly covers the street in front of you.

Here are some photos and thanks again for the inspiration
Could you give some information about the customs made metal plate? Any specific dimensions needed to make it work? I'm doing the same. Already ordered the storage compartment replacement and the Brodit mount.
