BMW Service Program Upgrade - Worth It??

I got this note today from my Dealer. In Canada, the wear items are not covered, and you have up to one year from in-service date to go on their BMW Service Program Upgrade program. Is it worth it?

Did you know?
Currently you are on a maintenance only plan - you are responsible for wear items such as brakes, windshield wipers, and drive belts.

Solution.
You presently qualify for the BMW Service Program Upgrade. The BMW Service Program Upgrade is a prepaid package for your brakes and other wear items that saves you money.

The result.
Your BMW gets the pampering it deserves, you enjoy the "all inclusive" BMW experience that you deserve, and did we mention you save money?

Your BMW Service Program Upgrade includes the following wear items:
Brake pads, wear sensors and rotors
Clutch disc (if applicable)
Engine external drive belts
Adjustments as a result of normal driving conditions
Wiper blades
Parts and labour for all of the above

For your 135i: ($CDN)

3 yrs / 60,000km : $ 795.00
4 yrs / 80,000km : $ 1,650.00
5 yrs / 80,000km : $ 1,975.00

Years are measured from your original in service date.

How much does a factory clutch replacement work out to on these? Also - brake pads, and rotors? Should I spring thew $1,695? They tried to sell this to when I picked my car up, but I balked.

If you are driving the car on the track or really hard? I suggest you should do it since its free replacement. Replacing a clutch, brake and other stuffs will cost more than the package and the dealer will make you pay more money.

I forgot to say. Since you havent purchase the car yet, if you did those upgrade package, your montly payment probablly only goes up $20-$30 dollars per month. Therefore, it isnt make any different when it becomes the total cost.

Can you buy the extended Warranty at any time? like you're 3 or 4th year into the finance plan? or only in the beginning?

Thanks

two things to wonder about...

Rotors: will they state that they are "good enough" by turning them and finding their thickness to be acceptable? It counts as a brake job for them, but not necessarily the best for the owner (I replace rotors every time).

Also, what dictates when a clutch is due to be replaced? Will they only do it when the car is immobile? will they do the throwout bearing and related parts at the same time, or only the bare minimum?

I worry about programs like this, as they only offer these things to make money... and they only make money on repairs by doing the bare required minimum...

eh ive been told that clutch replacement is a "grey area" when it comes to warranty...depends on what's wrong, and the cause of it i.e. if they can prove abuse.

I have only had two cars that were AT. All others were MT, and let me tell you, when a dealer starts hitting you for a clutch, that repair estimate can give you a massive heart attack, and it is only climbing higher and higher in this economy. I used to see dealer prices of $2000. God knows what it is now. Plate, throw bearings, etc etc etc etc etc, and then if they want to throw in other things like the Master Clutch Cylinder or things like that, at BMW prices, and then BMW labor charges of $160/hour+. Yes, that warranty covers a LOT!

As far as i know they do not turn rotors, they are replaced. A friend had his pads and rotors replaced due to squeaking issues.
