Cleaning wiper blades
What's the best method? I've heard rubbing alcohol on a cloth (seems harsh). I've also heard vinegar. Currently, I just use washer fluid on a cotton or microfber, several times, until no black color continues to rub off on the towel.

I use this stuff, 303 wiper treatment. I don't know if it's the best, but it does help.

Once the wiper blades no longer clean the windows well... I just replace them with new wipers. BMW pays for new wiper blades every year in the US. Just buy new wipers.

I wash/wipe the blades almost every time I wash the car to remove the accumulated road film. That gunk will effect performance
whether the blades are a week or a year old. I just use the soap & water straight from the bucket...I've used wipes like the 303s and found no difference just using soap & water. But Dack's right, get your blades replaced for free at the dealership annually (especially if you drive your 1er year 'round). |

BMW1racer, How is your powerlock holding up? Have you reapplied since July last year?

I reapplied late December... With the rain we were getting at the time, I felt that the car needed a new coat.

I also clean my wipers each time I wash my car. But we get a lot of rain over here in Germany and I always find that each year or sooner I need new wiper blades. They aren't cheap either at 28 euros for two complete wipers. Here is how you change them...
